Should B-Hop challenge the winner of Banks-Adamek and go for the cruiser title?

It would be a sensational way to bow out, wouldn't it?

I think a win over the Banks-Adamek winner would mean more than a win over Dawson or Kessler or Taylor or anyone at 168 or 175, not many men in history have won titles at mw, lhw and cruiser. Hopkins would then be a 3-weight linear world champ and would have a win over another unarguably naturally bigger man (like Tarver was as well).

Whether B-Hop could manage it or not is another question. The difference between lhw and cruiser is TWENTY-FIVE POUNDS. I sincerely doubt a 43 year old man can gain over three stones in weight and still be a fit and effective athlete.

However, if Hopkins could even get up to around 190lbs, I think he'd have a great chance of beating either Banks or Adamek. The reason that Hopkins was able to convincingly defeat Tarver, Wright and Pavlik and the reason that he was unable to convincingly defeat Taylor and Calzaghe was that at B-Hop's age, he has trouble with a young, fit, threshing machine of an opponent who exceeds Hop's workrate and where Hop's mobility around the ring is not as much of a weapon/advantage. The pace at cruiser is visibly slower than at mw or lhw, and I think Hopkins could use his mobility to outbox Adamek or Banks. I believe his chin and defence would hold up v bigger fighters. Adamek has already been outboxed by Dawson and I think Hopkins is a better boxer than Bad Chad, and Banks does not have the experience to match Hopkins over 12 rounds, he will be out of his depth.

What do you guys think, could and/or should Hopkins go for it?

As a big fan of both fighters, I would rather this one not happen.

Hopkins can definitely beat Adamek, though.

It's a lose-lose situation for Adamek, except, of course, that it might represent a huge payday for him.

If he wins, not only was Hopkins "old" and "shot", but he also was giving up too much size at Cruiserweight.

If Hopkins wins (which I think is more likely), Adamek's back to square one.

if he wants to continue fighting, then yeah....

    or even better

next fight, he could fight Kessler @ 168, then after he beats him, fight Adamek, then after he beats him fight Valuev

    now that would be sensational

I think that he should call it quits seen as though calzaghe has. Be a shame tho because he looked great against pavlik. But theres nobody out there for him. maybe roy jones jr? i dunno.

Since that night when Roy beat Kelly and HOPS beat Daniels, Roy does not seem at all eager to get into a scrap with BHOPS which would be a major headache for him on many levels. Though it would be a fantastic scientific match for the fans to see.

This would be a great fight in that we might see Hopkins hurt, or we might see him pull off something truly historic.
