if kelly does indeed become B-hops new protege and mold kelly, he can turn kelly into a monster of a fighter, like a white tommy hearns. even if kelly would lose a fight with B-hop in his corner, it would be interesting to see how much kelly's style changed or developed and if it actually helped him or not. when u got a legend kicking your ass in sparring, your gonna dominate or destroy your competition. i think it's a win-win

Well, B-Hop is the man who exposed how a tough fighter will usually lose to a slick one. He would do a lot to round out Kelly's game. Jack should humble himself a bit and do this.

Leow reminds me of Graham, Hatton's trainer. Got his man to a level, but ultimately is limited.

But this is why Pavlik would be a good choice. Though Pavlik is not necessarily technically skilled, he DOES have one gift that many boxers don't, and that is that he follows directions. IT wasn't obvious when he fought Hopkins.. because his trainers only advice was to 'Double that ****ing jab', which Hopkins wouldn't let him do.. and 'touch some nuts if you have to', which thankfully Pavik had the good judgement to basically just ignore.

But technical boxing can be learned, and though I think its highly unlikely Kelly becomes as technical a fighter as Hopkins, Pavlik seems pretty intelligent, and he would be able to understand and implement many of the things that Hopkins could teach him I believe.

Its not like Hopkins would try to turn Pavlik into him, thats not how it works. But Hopkins has such a great knowledge of every AREA of boxing, I believe he could make a good trainer. He also OBVIOUSLY knows a thing or two about hard work and dedication, which practically any fighter could learn some more about.

Pavlik needs a better cornerman at the very least though. Loew may be good at getting Pavlik into shape and motivating him, but he only knows one piece of advice (Double that ****ing jab), I'm not counting 'touch some ****ing nuts', because I feel its inappropriate for a trainer to tell his fighter to touch another fighter in such a lewd way. Though maybe its some kind of inside joke between the two of them. Either that or its code for "Double that ****ing jab", or "You gotta work now". Either that or "Don't let him hit you."

Seriously. That was Loew's defensive advice, don't let him do this, don't let him do that. That's all he had to say.

If Hatton got rid of Graham, then Pavlik should get rid of Loew.

True. Imagine workrate, stamina, and finishing skills all BETTER than Pavlik's along with BHop's brain, and you have Bernard in his prime. :hey

It is possible he could make a great trainer.

We wont really know unless he gives it a shot.

I have seen Hopkins commentate on ESPN one time for his nephew's fight and his insight was really good. He had some good pointers on what Demetrius was doing wrong and what he needed to change.

He knows a lot of tricks and knows everything there is to know about foot work and distance and all the little details.

He certainly has the knowledge to be a great trainer. Its just a matter of how well he can apply it to training other guys.

No, because Pavlik would not understand any of the advice Hopkins gives him.
