Take GGG for example. His resume is worse than Martinez, Geale and also meaby Quillin and Murray Imo but people rank him higher than that. He was ducked by Sturm, N'Dam, Quillin and Geale so top guys dont want him. Should being ducked benefit your ranking in division or resume because that can mean they know he is better than them and dont let him to prove how good he may be? Or no because such a guy can be only a hype and you have to wait till he fights someone who is not scared of him and is from the top.
When for example N'dam had interim WBA title and had to fight GGG for WBA title and he prefered to go for a WBO interim title instead then I guess it is clearly a duck.
All rankings are subjective not just P4P, The way I rank divisions 1. Actual head to head records. 2. Resume (in that division, consider overall for P4P) 3. Form (a fighter will tend to drop if incurring a loss or winning a robbery) 4. The manner of the victories (Shut outs or huge knock outs is better than a close fight) 5. Championship status (Mainly used for divisions where the champions haven't faced each other) 6. My own head to head opinion. 1 being most important and 6 being only used when the other 5 can't clearly separate. A good example being the light heavyweight division. 1. Dawson, Due to his win over Hopkins 2. Hopkins, Very good resume even more impressive at 48 3. Cleverly, Not much difference between 3-4 (used my own head to head) 4. Shumenov, 4th due to world champion status 5. Pascal, win over the #1 in the division. 6. Kovalev, impressive win over Campillo, very high on my own head to head. For example on my head to head I have Cleverly and Kovalev over Hopkins but Hopkins has done more at LHW. Pascal over Shumenov too but the fact he holds a world title keeps them higher.
No. You can have a private speculation and prediction on how that person would he viewed as a result, but ranking is on what you've done, not what some dude may or may not think you could have done.
