I thought the ring belt was awarded, not fought for. i.e it is the Ring's view of the best fighter at that weight. Clearly Haye 8.0 or Bellend are not in that category. Or is it now just another meaningless belt to join the many.
Why not Joshua v Parker? Would make far more sense. Considering the last guy to fight whilst holding it was Wlad, and Joshua beat him.
The statement at ringtv.com reads as follows : We deeply regret separating from the lineal championship and we would hope that fans appreciate our reasons for giving Tyson every opportunity over the past two years. We wish our former champion the very best for the future and we will be happy to re-rank him when appropriate. For the record, the vacant RING heavyweight championship will not be on the line in the IBF, WBA and WBO title unification bout between Anthony Joshua and Joseph Parker, which takes place in Cardiff, Wales, on March 31. Joshua and Parker are rated No. 1 and No. 3 by THE RING respectively. There have been occasions when a vacant RING championship has been contested between No. 1- and No. 3-rated contenders. However, after careful consideration, we do not feel Joshua-Parker qualifies. At this time, THE RING ratings panel unanimously believe that Deontay Wilder is the second-best heavyweight in the world on merit. Based on that statement, it appears that only a Wilder Joshua bout would be for the vacant Ring title. There's no way Bellew Haye 2 would be for it as neither is ranked as high as Joshua or Parker.
@shadow111 I think where you put "only a Wilder Joshua bout would be for the vacant Ring title"..... you mean joshua/parker v wilder/DrugCheat right?
Hey what about Price vs Povetkin for the Ring belt, Glass Jaw vs Glass ampoule (other forms of drug are available).
