Should boxers that test Positive for PED be banned for life...??? Should boxers that test Positive for any illegal drug (non PED) use be banned for life...??? How should their records be documented...???
There is a reason nobody in the industry condemns PED use. Because they are all on them. I don't know if the Hall of Fame has an asterisk for LaMotta's admitted fight fixing but they should and PED use deserves at least that. Jones Jr, Toney, Morales, etc. all will enter the HOF one day and to not specify their testing positive seems wrong. And anybody who fights them should demand heavy testing. But once again, there's a reason why they don't. See second sentence of this post.
I wouldn't say banned for life for the first offense (there maybe have been one or two incidents where the boxer was unaware or spiked) but by suggested punishments would be: - All previous wins and draws changed to an NC on you and your opponents record. - 2 year ban, and full drug testing, regardless of the commission your fighting under, for all future fights and between fights. - Exemption from the Hall of Fame - Give your full purse from your last fight to your last opponent. I also think it should carry criminal charges as well. Something like conspiracy to commit aggravated assault.
My belief is the boxer that tests Positive should have his purse go to a Retired Boxer's Pension fund...!!!
Good point, or those that end up seriously hurt like Abdusalamov. You know it's only a matter of time before someone ends up like that and their opponent was juicing.
Unfortunately. I do. The guilt has seen him get off the peds. His stamina and power seem to have diminished a lot.
Only the extremely stupid/extremely unlucky few test positive for anything while the vast majority of "cheaters" never do. Lance Armstrong was the most tested man in the world and never tested positive for anything, so even the most stringent testing protocols in the world are quite obviously a complete joke, and some of you ****heads are actually naive enough to believe that anyone anywhere near the elite level in boxing isn't on all types of PEDs?
Same here, which also makes me question GGG a little, although he's always been incredibly powerful so... let's hope not.
Wladimir Klitschko was subjected to nothing more than one single post fight **** test for his last fight against Pulev, which means he could have been juiced up to his eye***** with every PED known to man 30 days prior to the fight and still not have to worry about even a remote possibility of a positive test, and that's just par for the course as far as the sport of boxing is concerned. If PEDs yield any sort of benefit at all, which I'm pretty convinced that they do, then you'd have to be a total moron to believe that he and everyone else anywhere close to the elite level isn't taking full advantage. They'd be as dumb as the people in denial about the whole situation if they weren't.
I say let it be a free for all because there is no perfect standard. No one is going to bother testing a 6-19 guy fighting a 12-7 guy. Besides the smart, and or well funded guys are ahead of the game always, and no how to beat tests. I expect most of the elite guys are on something, and accept it for what it is. There are worse, and more corrupt problems with boxing than roids, and diuretics. Give me a perfect, and foul proof standard, and I'm in, but it never will, so let it go.
When you realize that high school football teams with kids that have no professional or even collegiate future in sports are juicing to maximize their physical capabilities, it becomes pretty obvious that all elite athletes are. All you have to do is go to your local gym and ask about various supplements. Your questions will be well received and answered. Just look at the testing programs in major sporting leagues. And when there is talk of adding a new test, there is a big fuss and it takes years and years before that test is implemented in some reduced fashion.
I don't agree with bans for life because everyone deserves a second chance. Boxers aren't the brightest bunch on the whole and could easily be lead down the wrong path. The ban should be lengthy though. Boxers fight so infrequently that a 1-year ban might only amount to a 1-fight ban. Make it 3+ years and life for a second offence.
