In an ideal world, however there's so much potential unfairness that could occur as a result, even if they were simply banned from contesting world title fights, that it's a pipe dream. Mainly because its a business not a sport, maybe there's also the aspect of taking someone's ability to earn a living away from them and the lawsuits that would follow. Boxing can't be arsed dealing with that when there's money to be made.

However, I would like to see a change that could easily occur without legal challenge. I'd like 'Ring Magazine' to announce that any boxers who tested positive would be permanently removed from their rankings. That, along with unbiased ratings that didn't inflate golden boy boxers etc would give us at least one champion and ranking that was relatively untainted. I know it won't happen but it would be a good halfway house if it did.

For me there's differences in what they used and there should be a second chance.

If someone like Miller gets caught testing positive for the entire pharnacy, that should be an instant 4 year ban. Testing positive for something that could be there by mistake, still a 1 or 2 year ban.
In either case next positive test, refusing testing or missing 3 times after should result in a lifetime ban.

Yes lifetime ban for any fighter caught having taken PEDs.

No appeals process, no excuses accepted, if the drug is in your body then you have taken it, if the excuse is it was through a dodgy supplement, uncastrated boar or bovine from south of the border then tough luck, you consumed so a permanent ban given.

At present the penalty for PED use is not working, but sure as hell if lifetime ban was the penalty the number of drug cheats would diminish pronto.

Are you sure you want to do that?

Will that include those that broke the rules but got a away with it without any punishment?

As well as those who chose when testing started & got to personally choose the less stringent testing agency over the other?

How about TUE's? Hard to prove as they are secretly contracted inside.

Roy is to blame for all of this

Walking PED factory, like 99% of fellow juicers, Larry Olubamiwo was actually inspired to turn to the Dark Side by the likes of Roy

'When asked if he felt his ban of four years fit his crime, Olubamiwo insisted, 'No, to be fair I don't. First of all, looking at the other sanctions that the bigger-named guys had, it's not fair. And a lot of people have made a big deal of me making a big deal about that, saying, 'Well, it doesn't matter; you've still broken the rules.' But at the end of the day, these are the guys that we look up to. When I was younger or just getting into boxing, I'd look at guys like James Toney, Roy Jones, guys that are at the pinnacle of our sport. And you see that they're using things and I think to myself, well, first of all, I have to use these things to get to the top or get to a stage where you can make some money. Second of all, if you do get caught, the sanctions are not likely to be that severe, so therefore, you can still get on with your career as these guys have done. So that was my thinking at the time. That was my mind frame at the time.'

It is not fair. Just because you dont get caught, does NOT mean you are clean.

Those who have money or brains buy the good, undetectable stuff. Who gets popped in pro sports is political and often just bums for show.

If youre not going to punish some of the rule breakers why bother testing at all??? Look at the difference.
One fighter, who we all know, was caught red handed breaking 3 of the State Commissions rules regarding Saline treatment.
1 Never applied for a TUE
2 Received many times the amount ,750 ml. that a medical facility would administer.
3 Was caught receiving saline drip in his own home 24 hours before a title fight
The State Commissions response was " He'd done nothing wrong" !!!! Then they issued a retroactive TUE to try to cover the cheating.
Another fighter's trainer accidently used a harmless used gauze pad when wrapping his hands for a fight & not a new one. The oppositions trainer demanded the wrap be removed, which was one of his ploys to un nerve the opponent. Also ludicrous claims of Plaster blocks were made.
The State Commission allowed the fight to go on but then banned the fighter for nearly THREE YEARS even though the pad was deemed harmless by an independent Lab. Therefore tarnishing his good name & ruining his career Even though they had no evidence to prove he'd done anything wrong. They stated they believed he MAY!! have been trying to cheat. Which is ridiculous
If this is how the State Commission act regarding testing of fighters
& worse & who they are Yes stop testing altogether its just a sham
