Should boxing fights be scored based on facial damage? Discuss.

Some guys like cotto bruise and cut VERY easily. others skin just holds up well. its a silly criteria to use

 

In some situations yes. For example, if a boxer connects with a good punch that cause a big cut, bleed on the nose or a swollen eye, that adds to the effectiveness of the punch. Plus if he starts to back peddle or run waiting for the round to end, that means he is giving up control. it may not be fair to those who cuts or bruise easily, but than not everyone is born to punch hard either.

 

When people scored Garcia - Matthyyse on facial damage, rather than on who was winning rounds, you had no problem with it.

 

That is how Creed beat Rocky by SD in their first encounter.

 

Well, it's a bad idea for so many reasons, but I am afraid that your humour and irony will be lost on the type of users who post statements like that...

 

Fights should be scored based on punches landed. Kovalev landed more punches.

 

Nah.. I say let kids be the judges and the loser be the guy with the more damaged face! Why not!

 

it would be interesting to include this but would it be difficult in some instances to say who is 'more' facial damaged. some people are just ugly lol

In reality, it shows something but not much. I care more about Kovalev getting a kd in an otherwise hard to distinguish fight. Still, I don't claim robbery, should probably have gone Kovalev but was close

 

When you're know as the puncher and one of the punchers in all of boxing and everyone is talking about your punching..... don't leave it to the boxer to box and win then moan about it....
