Yes, Joshua, the Klits, Wilder, Povetkin are so fat and unathletic that you may have a point.

Y’all are the ones who started the size crap. Now you want to jump ship?

Lazy answer from a lazy presumption. Typs.

    Here is my honest assessment.
You guys have a lot of boxing knowledge.
But you do **** all with it.

Try a solution before giving up and being bitter at others for not having something the market lacks at providing. Be proud of the work you put into discovering obscure yet valuable information, and maybe help the next man access it better?

Its the most significant division in the sports history. Minus the K era , the HW Championship has always transcended the sport. Joshua is bringing that prestige back to the division. In just a short period of time he's rivaled Murray and Hamilton as Britain's most popular sportsperson.
The didn't call the HW Crown the greatest prize in sports for nothin'. Get rid of it?.. Nah

    Perhaps. I have my douts

Perhaps, I have my doubts but that is why they fight the fights. Except in the cases of these hypothetical fights we need to first accoplish time travel. I have grown over time to become jaded over hypothetical head to head intergenerational bouts. Depending on the circumstances both old and new suffer weather it is due to differences in size, lack of video or variations in accounts of the fights.

I prefer now just to compare fighters from different eras based on what they accomplished in their careers based on how they fared against the best available competition. Comparisons are often odious and almost always biased. The most you can ask of any fighter is to do the most against the available competition. To penalize a champion for a flat performance in a long reign versus another fighter on the rise is misleading. Admittedly, comparing legacies is not as glam but is more honest and insightful in the end.

    You can shut up Sweaty!

Seriously though, a moratorium might be worth a try.It would allow all of us to get genned up on guys that are neglected and unsung. e.g You and I have both made threads about Kid Lavigne ,who else participated?

    Chalky Wright?
    Lew Tendler?
    Leach Cross?
    Jeff Smith?
    Charley White?
How about a voluntary weeks/two weeks trial, no heavyweight threads?

I think he would likely beat both, though Foreman could well win.
Though your rounded down the size difference in numbers, & it is significant in actual muscle.

    Not a bad idea.
    But maybe just one week.

We don’t want to get too crazy, hehe, you know? *nervously scratches neck*

The lighter weights have mostly all had to fight every fight for peanuts.

Yet they put up great fights, and we still watch them good old classics to this day over and over...

The heavyweights is a different level.

    They don't fight, ever.

They are constantly scared of having a fight, although the genuine real fighters do it day in day out...

I see Fury coming back after the winter, and see Chis having a great 2018....

    Interesting idea.

Then again, given that weight categories are somewhat arbitrary and artificial in and of themselves, maybe we should get rid of them altogether.

We don't have height or weight categories in sprinting/ marathoning/ long jumping/ high jumping/ swimming etc.
Every man (and woman) brings all of their attributes and talents to the arena.

So, without weight categories, would we ever have heard of Joe Gans or Hank Armstrong or even SRR ?

Marciano would be an even more celebrated icon than he is today, being the only sub-200 lb fighter to ever garner a title.

Pac would never have left the Philippines and Floyd would be on welfare.

But seriously, mo buachaill, the marquee division, for better or worse, is the measure of the sport in the eyes of most of its fans, albeit that many of them lack your level of sophistication when it comes to being connoisseurs of the sport's finer points.

We have to be thankful for the introduction in the mid to late 1800s, of the artificial categorization that has allowed us to see chocolatito, Manos de Piedra, El Flaco Explosiva, Money, The Hawk, Pacman, the Hitman etc.....
