Because I think after Jones, Hoya, Mosley, Floyd, Tito,Pac, and a couple more retire. Who is going to take boxing to the mainstream besides JT, Pavlik, and Cotto
Absolutely...they need to. Getting on national TV would do wonders for them assuming they're dedicated to it. I could see a lot of filler shows on network TV because HBO and Showtime want to protect their PPV interests.
Obviously, yes, it should be on network television right now. But it's not. We need these promoters and managers to step it up for the good of the sport, and those at ABC, CBS and Fox to observe the prospects of bringing boxing back. Hell, MMA is going to be on CBS live in May.
Maybe I can bring it back when I get in the game. But thanks because that **** has been on my mind. My dad always tells me that he seen SOME OF THE GREATEST FIGHTS ON ABC, but the mega fights were ponly $12 dollars on PPV. sO IT WAS EASIER TO FOLLOW CAREERS AND GROW WITH THE FIGHTERS.
Most definitely. The best way to bring boxing back into the general public's attention is to get some fights on network television. Having fights on CBS, ABC, and NBC would help boxing's reputation.
Also, once upon a time, Ameatur boxing was a big deal in America, a real event, especially during the Olympics. Not anymore. Sadly, American boxers are going to have rough times ahead turning professional unless they are a truly stellar Ameatur with an Olympic pedigree. Because they just don't televise Ameatur's anymore. I can't name more than a handful of Ameatur's myself. Thus, when they turn professional, they're going to have a rougher time making a name for themself, much less earning money.
Yeah it would be a great idea, but i doubt they will, im welling to bet money, it take along time for boxing to hit tv network, even once all the superstars retire
Damn never knew that? But it just gets to me that EliteXC is going to be on CBS AND EVEN THOUGH i REALLY DON'T LIKE MMA, I believe this is real big for the sport of MMA. To bad they don't get paid like boxers, because they deserve it with the ratings they recieve.
Why you say that? I believe if a fighter who won a medal at the Olympics with a promosing future will be great for network TV, until he proves himself to go HBO, plus I'm tired of buying boxing collections when I could tape them on network TV
True, but promoters should be more responsible and negotiate for the good of the sport. If they sold the event for a reasonable price, everything would be fine. But instead, they take the easy route, and shop fights around to HBO or Showtime, in hopes of HUGE paychecks and later PPV nonsense. Oh well. Maybe one day we'll see boxing return to mainstream status. Until then, I guess we've got to enjoy HBO and Showtime and preach the word of Boxing to our brothers and sisters!:yep :hey
