Should Britain's prospects fight more often?

I suppose the problem is finding them appropriate opponents

 

Warren has discussed this and said he wants them out more but theres not enough TV dates to get it done.

the money the likes of DeGale and other top prospects are being paid, they need the fights on tv to finance it.

personally i think you should fight at least 8 times a year until your doing 10 rounds.

 

Your spot on you really are, We all wanna fight more it's just down to the TV to give more dates, Boxing needs more backing from all the channels!! If BBC or ITV back boxing you'll get a big bill every month without doubt..:good

 

There is plenty of action to be had in Germany or the States :yep

More of our lads should fight abroad on the way up rather than the cheapest Latvian available.

 

Its all about tv dates end of the day Tyson Fury got a lot of momentum because he fought once a month on ITV and all of a sudden he was the next big thing its not a complicated formula. Get a half exciting fighter get him fighting regularly and get people watching him and the rest will follow

 

Yeah - defo agree with that. At this stage the fights they're in aren't exactly going to be gruellers so they could be fighting much more regularly. Learn as much as they can as quickly as they can and get as much exposure as they can.

It's an extreme example, but I think Mike Tyson had 28 or 29 fights in his first two years as a pro...

 

It is shame promoters like FW cannot do a deal with their German counterparts to keep their prospects busy. Degale could be 15-0 by now with some Eurobum German experience

 

problem with fighting abroad is there 0 will go as unless you put them spark out your not garranteed the win,especialy in germany there bad cheats' the us is more fare but they have journey men who make john murray and mathew hatton look useless.

 

Ridiculous when you think about it. Especially as he made it to world level. He was in the ring every 12 or 13 days or so at one point.

 

Maybe things need to change. Maybe prospects get a yearly wage rather than purse for each fight.

Actually all fighters should fight more often, get non-title bouts between championships to stay sharp.

And not enough TV coverage for prospects, surely they could fight on off the tv cards travel the country.

 

I might be wrong but do promoters have a clause where if one of their fighters loses two fights on the spin they can cut the strings and let them go...:think

I only think promoters may put their best prospects on a contracted salary plus fight purse and a percentage of ticket sales...:think The rest of a purse and percentage of ticket sales...:think

 

It's my biggest bugbear with British fighters and IMHO the real reason why we'll never really unearth the likes of a Pacquiao or a Tyson.

The top prospects get too much money too quickly and as a result the promoters take too much care in protecting their investment.

I don't see what TV dates should have to do with it.
