Good post Earl. These tranny queens make my stomach churn with their revisionist propoganda. Some of these bumsteaks refuse to give Burns any credit. :dead:barf

I agree that Burns does get some unfair stick but it was not unreasonable to think that Martinez and Katsidis would have knocked him out.
Nor was it unreasonable to moan about his SFW reign of terror, his opponents were shite but I blame that Frankie W for that.
Not many people were knocking Moses when the fight was made from what I can remember, it was a solid match up, nothing more nothing less.
I like Burns but he's nothing special, that's not hating on him, that's me being honest.

Yes that's true. There have been a few occasions when I thought Ricky had been over-matched, starting with the Graham Earl fight, but he came through and won well and now I'd tend to favour him against most lightweights. His lack of power will turn out be a problem if faces down one of the top Americans.

To be fair you dont need knockout power to win fights on points, as he's proved.

Burns does the right things in a round to take the 10-9 more than not.

If you can box well and dont get hit too much then why should Burns be worried about people with more power than him???...Hes been in with many people with more power than him and he won those fights without looking like getting beat whatsoever.

Yeah power is a big advantage but if it doesnt hit home then its a luxary imo.

Why is power so important to critics and fans? If the guy has a good chin and good recovery rate with a decent jab high work rate and good movement Then power isnt so important(not saying that power isnt important it depends on the opponent).

Why not turn it around and say that if the likes of rios face Burns his lack of boxing skills will not be enough???

Why oh why do so many british boxing critcs/fans live in fear????

I just stated that I'd favour him to win against most lightweights. That statement alone would suggest that not having concussive power is not a barrier to success so that's not 'living in fear.' I'm recognising the fact that his foot and hand speed, his reactions and his hand-eye co-ordination are skills that would be boosted if he had more of power in his punches. If Ricky falls behind on points in a fight then he'll most probably lose it. A bit of KO power could sort that out.

Totally agree, I was about to deride you for this thread but having read these last couple of posts you are spot on.

Burns last night completely dominated a solid opponent, I read thru the rbr this morning and shook my head at some of it. There seems to be a bit of weird burns hate around here which is strange cos the guy is a very likeable personality and a solid boxer.

    Makes me wonder sometime
