Should Bute have been counted out against Andrade?

Whatever the case it was clearly an attempted robbery. The ref did everything in his power to try and get Bute through the round.

He randomly tells Andrade something about his feet to buy time:

The ref getting in the way of Andrade while he's trying to get to Bute:

LOL... typical knee jerk reaction from someone with a short fuse. I just saw the fight for the first time. It's a talking point regardless of what happened in the future... how do you not see that? This has got nothing to do with the rematch... the question has nothing to do with the rematch so don't bring it up you jerk.

Further more. Can you tell me how i am stirring ****? Is it because i raised an issue that you don't agree with? Because if so thats not stirring and in fact your an ignorant nobody

Couldn't have put it better myself. So funny watching all the bandwagon-jumping hype gobblers who proclaimed him best SMW in the world cause he KO'd Andrade in the rematch. Typical.

Having checked boxrec, it turns out the referee Marlon Wright officiated 7 of Bute's fights between 2005 and 2008. Seems like he had a pretty decent incentive to keep Bute from losing.

That ref should have been shot on the spot. He was dirtier than that ****er from Calzgahe/manfredo.

Bute got a major gift. He was out, flopping like a cold fish.

    :?

Calzaghe/Manfredo is an example of nothing other than a referee taking his earliest possible opportunity to stop a clearly badly overmatched fighter.

You haven't watched a lot of boxing if that is your standard for dodgy refereeing...

Of course the decision was hometown cooking, especially when you one 10 rounds to 2...

    Yea of course:

Kabary Salem = TKOed in 8

Lolenga Mock = UD 118-111 on lowest card

Sergey Tatevosyan = UD 119-109 lowest card

Sakio Bika = UD 116-111 on lowest card

Alejandro Berrio = KOed in 11

William Joppy = TKOed in 10

Man, Bute really got lucky having Marlon B. Wright in his corner:lol:

The referee clearly helped Bute and if it wasn't from him trying to stop Andrade from hitting Bute before the knocked down, Bute would've been KO long before. The referee also tried to give more time to Bute in my opinion, regardless the fact that Andrade was not totally in his corner. The referee could've decided to let it pass, like I have seen in many other fight. It was hometown decisions by the referee, obviously.

That said, the thing is that in regard of the rules, Bute did win. The referee only had to make sure that Bute was not in danger and he he was not since there was not even a second left to the fight (Bute fell at 2 seconds from the end). Therefore, the only thing Bute had to do was to beat the count, which he did.

Bute completely dominated Andrade in the first fight, right until the end. He then stopped Andrade quickly in the second fight. Bute is way better boxer than Andrade.

The only real question is if he should have been allowed to continue to that point. He was helpless when he took the prior KD. He reeled helplessly across the ring into the corner where he was put down again. You can argue that shouldn't have been allowed.
