At 175 he will certainly have more power, and maybe shouldn't be as defensive as he has been at heavyweight. In the sparring video Freddy showed us he still had that defensive first stance. It reminded me of a lot like RJJ nowadays. Anyways, he may be too old to really change that much, but I think he could straighten up his stance a bit, and take more of an offensive approach. What do you guys think?

I think its a bit late now to be changing.

Though his chin is good, and at light heavy I see it being one of the best. He could certainly take more risks.

His style does not translate well to the lower weights. It didn't early in his career and it won't now that his reflexes have dulled. At heavyweight, Byrd's slickness and speed were most effective as bigger heavyweights let him counterpunch--the style with which he's most comfortable.

At the lower weights, he has to make the fight more, something he's never been comfortable with. See his performances against Arthur Williams, Fres Oquendo and DaVryll Williamson.

I like Byrd a lot, but my personal opinion is that he won't be successful against top light heavies.
