Should Calzaghe come back to fight Taylor/Froch winner ?

Is Calzaghe a God? Of cause there are people worthy but Calzaghe has achieved everything he wanted so there is really no pressure.

Persoannly I am bored of watching Calzaghe out work his opponent to a decision with his non concusive flurrys.

 

I wouldn't have minded it if Joe hadn't retired as either would've been a good solid win, but now that he has, neither guy offers the kind of superfight worth coming out of it for. Chad Dawson could've been that, but the combination of being tied up with the Tarver rematch and the injury has put that to rest and effectively taken the closed door of Calzaghe's career and sealed it shut.

 

He should never fight dawson, because he is not proven.
Dawson needs to get some recognition in europe before fighting the elite.

Dawson isnt worthy or credible?

 

Dawson's worthy and credible, but not practical- he had a ticking clock to increase his name's stock enough to land a fight with Calzaghe (the same for Hopkins, too). The mandatory rematch with Tarver combined with Dawson's injury has basically killed his chances with both, as there's a realistic chance Chad wouldn't be ready for another fight following Tarver until late 2009, at the earliest. Neither Joe nor Bernard are going to wait that long for him; it had to be done by summer if it was going to happen.

Look at Adamek's activity and how that's helped him likely land a Hopkins fight; that he doesn't have a perfect record is irrelevant because he's active, has defeated very good competition at CW, the fans know he's the champ at Cruiserweight, and he consistently puts out entertaining fights. That's how you land a fight with someone on their way out. It's not Chad's fault he got injured, but the layoff that causes killed his chances for a big fight with either man.

 

joe's fights were only boring when the competition wasn't up to scratch, whenever there was a real threat (eubank, mitchell, lacy, kessler to name a few) then joe performed brilliantly, and he NEVER lost. should he fight taylor v froch winner? no i don't think he should. he's nothing to prove and would beat em both on the same night anyway. froch needs joe far more than joe needs him. froch needs a win over joe on his record to add some credibility to his claims he's the best and his status as new champ. who's he fought? the biggest name on his record right now is pascal! joe would beat froch hands down, and carl must know this deep down, he's just trying to hype the fight to put himself out there and create a big money fight for himself and fair play to him but joe won't come back for froch, its just not a big enough fight to entice him out of retirement. personally i dont think there is a fight out there that joe would come back for and he doesn't need to. its mostly you yanks that dont rate joe and slate him all the time but he never lost lads, and he fought the best you lot had to offer just admit it and live with it. if he's as crap as you make out then why didnt hopkins or jones expose him? even a faded jones would expose most fighters weaknesses and exploit them, and there's nothing wrong with b-hop, judging by his performance in his next showing against pavlik...its just a shame pavlik didnt have the bollocks to put his title on the line. but then, your 'champs' only tend to do that when their pretty sure they can win dont they. personally, i feel if joe owes anybody a fight, its glen johnson. he's the only fighter in my eyes who's name should be on joe's record and i'd still go with joe, probably by UD. johnsons dangerous and joe knows this, and it would have been a good fight. taylor, froch, a rematch with b-hop? whats the point. joe would out-class them all in the same night!

 

If Calzaghe could beat Taylor the way he did Hopkins and Jones I would be very impressed since Taylor is younger and quick.

 

Why do make a big deal of this point as though it is really good argument against JC fighting Froch. In most cases when boxers fight one fighter has more to gain from the victory than the other but this is not a reason for not making a fight.

 

Youth and quickness doesn't necessarily mean you're a better fighter.
