he made enough $$$$, he could retire now happy with a good resume. Now for greatness...fight Glen Johnson and Dawson.

Has boxing really fallen so low that if you beat fighters such as Dawson & Johnson, then and only then, you are considered great???

    Man, things really are bad.

he could do with one more home fight against dawson.
i bet americans want him to fight on as they want to see him get beat...aint going to happen, there is nobody out there left after dawson who calzaghe will expose.
    then retire p4pno1.

What you'd like and what you're gonna get, are two different things.

i would love to see him fight dawson then get out of the game.

    buuuuuuuut.....

if his heart is not 100% in it anymore then get the hell out now. i suspect joe's hunger and desire are seriously on the slide. i'd hate to see him lose simply because he wasn't as interested as he once was.

Its not a question of weather or not he can still achieve more in his career but rather if he has the motivation/desire to carry on. If not then he should get out and reflect on a successful career. Hopefully he wont get bored in a years time.

    Correct.

It's not about ability or age, he clearly has enough to make him a favourite against anybody from 168-175. It's whats going on in his head now. Does he really have the motivation to improve his resume further?

It doesn't seem like it reading his interviews.

I'd like to see Joe keep fighting Americans just to keep the 'war' going. We have lots of nursing homes over here, enough to keep Joe in supply for several years!
Seriously, it seems Joe lives fairly conservatively, so if his ex-wife isn't glauming on to loads each month, that $18m he made over the weekend should do him fine. Then again, he might go home, recover a bit, and say, what the hell, since I'm so popular, I might fight again to supplement my 2 boys trust fund.
    Let's wait and see.
