dont know to much about carlos but he seemed to be a heck of a cruiserweight gaining the wbc belt 4 times.
He was a good fighter, dominant until Holyfield came along and started unifying. Up 'til that point, probably the only cruiserweight to leave his mark on the division. Is he an ATG? No. Should he be in the HOF? Probably. He's done enough, imo.
Why not everyone else is? . At the current rate ,it won't be long before there are more boxers outside it than in it.Maybe they will rename it the Aircraft Hangar of Fame?
............Decidedly not. He won a lot of belts in the cruiserweight division in the 80's and into the 90's, but that was more emblematic of how weak (painfully weak) the division was through those years. And he still kept losing the title! Gotta remember, that's the sole reason he won that many belts. I don't mean he lost heroically in a number of classic fights, a'la Sugar Ray Robinson, only to come back and regain his regal place in the pantheon. I mean he lost to guys like S.T. Gordon. Holyfield came along and cleared up any idea of what a cruiserweight should have been when the idea of the cruiseweight division was hatched. Until then, it was just a bunch of retreads, DeLeon included. I guess you could say he was a persistent retread.
