:rofl:rofl There's one small flaw there Messer - CCTV is in Chinese. I'm in the UK anyway so have access to neither network.
Chinese annoucing has to be better than HBO..besides Manny Steward they all are terrible to listen to. They can't even conduct proper interviews in the ring after fights. CCTV can be found online. Or we can all move to China...where they still have jobs.
I watched Sargent vs Welliver many moons ago on Fox Sports Net regional coverage in Detroit. That is the 1st time I saw Chauncy and when i 1st became a fan. It was a war and a very close fight. Most rounds could go either way. And to be honest with you, I will watch any boxing on TV, but I was skeptical seeing some big heavy guys like Hoggman and Chauncy. I figured someone would get KO'd quick or tire out. Then they went to war for the entire distance. I was like, man that fat kid can fight...21 years old I think. 8 years ago now. The Solis fight has been more of a hinderance than a blessing. He made a nice check and stayed on his feet. But he got stopped, the judges screwed him over on the early rounds, and everybody and their brother think that is his normal body style when it is his worst ever. He is and has been for almost 3 years, consistently 50 pounds less than that. The Chinese had him on TV with big numbers for both his fights there last year. But they do not use You Tube and they are not available online. This HBO deal, with the Brits watching would have been an excellent stage. But HBO sucks major arse. If they can't sell a power puncher vs a guy who has never been down with the 2nd longest round streak going, fellow top 10 rated HW, then they can't sell anything. This Fat Dan HBho **** has to end.
An HBO gig against Mitchell probably wouldn't have paid more than $50K, and Chauncy accepted that (in Mitchell's hometown, no less). I don't imagine that Fury's people would pay less than $50K as well. I could picture Chauncy going to the UK for his big shot. Fury is far less dangerous than Mitchell, too.
yeah, arreola would rather take his chances against a cruiserweight like molina ...arreola fights garbage....
No disrespect intended, but I think if Chauncy does this, he'll end up deeper in the hole, and frozen out of American big TV fights. The stuffed suits don't like to see this...they won't change their attitudes until Chauncy beats a reputable, solid top-30 fighter. The next step -- if Chauncy's going to break the HBO glass ceiling -- should be one of the following, either of which could enhance his rep in the American market: 1. Chauncy beats anyone on American TV (either ESPN or one of the obscure Internet pay based stations) and fans like what they see. 2. Chauncy wins big in an off-TV fight against someone who is unrated but regarded, by American fans, as a tough and competent fringe contender. Both of these suggestions may be unachievable unless Chauncy has a promoter. Maybe he should start shopping for a promoter who might give him a signing bonus? If Chauncy signs, the downside is that he will be limited to 3 fights per year, and, if things don't work out, the promoter could sell him out. But the upside is that if he picks the right promoter, they could grease the business wheels, get Chauncy the right "break out" fights, and set him up for his long awaited American big TV fight.
