Yes, unless the referee was in Taylor favor timing the round.

yes is was the right call to stop the fight.

listen to taylor now when he speaks that fight killed him mentally. imagine what another 2 right hands could have done to him

Chavez earned a TKO victory -- he had done enough damage to be granted the win. That's a factor easily overlooked -- letting the fight go on because there was little time left would have been unfair to Chavez.

As it is, my sympathies lie with Taylor. He fought so well and so bravely, and he got neither the glory nor a healthy life. A bit of the dark side of boxing, I 'spose.

i agree with the guys saying that if the fight would have been stopped then it would have been unfair to chavez. Chavez had finally dropped taylor after being far behind on points. Taylor cant respond to "Are you ok?" all you gotta say is "yeah". So i think Taylor was about as badly hurt as most of us think.

One of my favorites fights. Both great champions. I wish taylor wouldnt have been badly hurt.

Yes. This has been beaten to death. This is a sport where we depend on the judgement of the referee to protect our fighters. It was a shame that the fight that permanently damaged Taylor ended in him losing, but there are more important things here. The damage was already done, whether it was stopped or not, he is still ****ed up. The ref cannot be expected to pick and choose when to stop fights based off whether he feels the right man is winning. And the time of the stoppage has no bearing, because a right hand can be thrown in a split second and all it takes is one more right hand to end a life.

You have 12 rounds to score a KO not 11 rounds 2 minutes and 54 seconds. The stoppage was correct.

Say he let it go. The next punch is a fatal blow to Taylor. The question will then be asked to Richard Steele: Did you feel he was ok to continue? Did you ask him to look at you and if he was ok to continue? Why did you let it continue after seeing him take all that punishment and then NOT respond to you when you asked him a question?
Steele will then answer, well because the fight was almost over. Then what peooples??????

No. two more seconds, and he would have won. And no, he did not respond, but Lou Duva was screaming at him and he was looking at him, not the referee.
