According to FN, after his KO loss yesterday, Chris Byrd passed out unconscious in his dressing room and had to be taken in to the nearest hospital. Byrd became unresponsive when a combination of valium and morphine were administered in his dressing room due to his shoulder injury.

He was released later from the Valley Hospital, but his wife said she's not gonna let his man fight on... :-(

I hope Byrd will get better and after a few days he'll announce his retirement.

Please Mr. Byrd, there's nothing left to prove out there!

Let's hope that he's ok. He cannot be allowed to fight anymore after last night. It's too dangerous

He looked horrible last night, something really seemed to be wrong with him from the opening bell. I hope he's alright, and that he just hangs up the gloves and calls it a day, he had a good career and a pretty long run as IBF champ in this era, fighting guys much bigger than himself.

yeah he had no legs from the opening bell. My thing is if he looked like that during the fight, then i wonder how he looked during training, cause if he looked anything like he did last night in training, how his trainer let him even fight is baffling. He had nothing, lets hope he retires. Solid career though

This is sad to hear. It's a good sign that he was released from the hospital very quickly and I hope he will be alright. It was hard watching what happened to Byrd last night, and hopefully he announces his retirement very soon.

Losing that much weight is bound to have an affect - looks like it was too much.

Maybe it's good that he went down in weight. Something is def. wrong with him, better that a light hitter brought it out, rather than a Heavy.

Stop boxing and start spending the money with your family. You have nothing to prove as a two times HW-Champion. :(

These things happen all the time in boxing. Byrd's trainer is his father which makes it even more baffling. I still wonder to this day how they let Lamon Brewster go through with the Wlad Klitschko rematch when there was a clear medical concern (eye).
