Now imagine how those fights would look like if there was no clinching in those fights? What would be Floyd's gameplan then? Run around more?

    He did lose points.

He'd have around 6 loses without the the aid of K2 rules.

WK was twice the size of Povetkin and was able to throw his whole body over him. He even goes up on his toes to apply maxium weight.

Floyd wasn't able to do that against Miadana. He got pushed up against the ropes and had to either block , parry or take the shot on the chin.

Wlad exploited his size so he never had to do that and he couldn't even if he wanted to.

There isn't any comparison between Floyd and Wlad.

Wlad is the worst of the worst. Take away hos holding and he's nothing . Mayweather would still find a way to win

Thats **** and shows your lack of understanding the sport. It is not difficult to referee. It is clear when a guy is clinching. Boxing can absolutely be fought without clinching which by rule is illegal now but never inforced. Go look at the Porter/Broner fight and comapare it to Porter/Thurman. Not saying Thurman didnt clinch at all but there were times where he didnt. YOull see in the first fight Broner is basically just holding to keep from getting hit which should be and is illegal! In the second fight you see Thurman fight his way off the ropes skillfully and some nice inside exchanges where guys normally just clinch and wait for the refs which made the fight exciting to watch. Boxing can absolutely be fought without clinching which by rule is illegal now but never inforced.

Boxing needs to do away with clinching and make guys fight PERIOD! The only exception being when a guy gets badly hurt and is doing whatever he can from going down. When guys do come together the ref should immediately break them up. If one fighter tries to hold to prolong the clinch as the ref is breaking them up the first time its a warning any time after that its a 1 point deduction for the round . If you lose 3 points to clinching the fight is stopped and you lose by dq. Problem solved. This will give us amazing fights and bring boxing back to were its supposed to be.

Yeah clinching is already illegal it's just not enforced at all really. It's just become a staple in boxing. But I'm totally for enforcing a strict rule on it (one or two times get a warning, third time get a point taken away, and every time after). First of all it would make fights more entertaining to watch, that's just a fact. 2nd it would help boxing and increase the marketability.

I'm all for the refs enforcing the rules. Treat it like any other infraction. One or two warnings, then point deductions, then Disqualification.
Mills Lane did right when he DQed Akinwande for it.

Clinching is a part of boxing and always has been, but excessive holding should be penalized................

Broner vs Porter and Wlad vs Povetkin were probably the 2 worst out of recent memory. And to be honest in both fights Broner and Wlad were scared. You could see it in them. Scared of the puncher. Both had good reasons to be.

Of course it should, certainly holding and hitting.
But referees also have to be consistent, and about everything.

If referees start warning about clinching early on we get much better fights, much more KO's and early on at least, much more DQ's.

I've often thought that fighters should have a percent of the purse deducted for each clinch or for every few clinches (a set number say 3 during a round) a point should be deducted.

Also I realize clinching is a part of boxing. But the problem is when fighters aren't using it to get out of a pinch, or to recover when hurt. There are fighters now who actually rely on committing a FOUL to win.

    I'm tired? Clinch.

I'm trapped on the ropes? Clinch.

    I'm hurt? Clinch.

I just landed a jab and now am in my opponents range? Clinch.

    Too much clinching in boxing.
