    ?????

The way I see it Margarito cant deal with southpaws all of his losses except mosley are at the hands of southpaws do you think if Cotto started out orthodox and switched it up in the sixth round where Margarito turns it on that perhaps he would have been a bit safer and likely pull off the win????

I am starting to think should the two fight again that should be considered.

Martinez is a Southpaw, Margo knocked him out. Andrew Lewis is a Southpaw as well and Margo knocked him out too.

Forgot about those two, I dont recall Six Heads being a lefty though...
but in all of his losses except Mosley they were at the hands of leftys no?

It doesn't matter, Cotto has a glass jaw, he would have gotten knocked out anyway.

Six Heads is definately left handed. So he lost two close decisions to lefties and he knocked two lefties out. He was also brutalized and stopped by a righty. I'm not sure being a lefty matters against Margo.

Yeah Margarito is a disgrace. He doens't deserve another payday, but I would like to see Cotto get some revenge aginst this bum who made his career by being a cheater.

Would have no difference, Unless maybe Cotto getting stopped sooner.
Fighting southpaw is defo not his stronghold. (For an entire fight)

I think it does, in a sense, i mean two fights with Santos to end the same way, he lost earlier in his career to another lefty forgot the name, but Mosley IMO just knew how to use angles against the wide slow Margarito..

Actually that game plan Mosley had was and is the blue print, sit down with hard vicious shots the first six rounds and box the 2nd half, and it worked, by the time the middle rounds got there the damage was inflicted.....

Well, the Dixon & Loyozya losses; who knews whether they were lefties or not? Jones obviously was a southpaw, but that was early on in Margo's career aswell.

The Santos obviously was a loss to a southpaw - albeit a technical decision - but I don't think it's as simple as being in the southpaw stance. Prime Santos was obviously technically superior in every way to Antonio, and many a fighter would of lost to a prime 'El Pillin'.

The same with Williams, he isn't your ordinary southpaw. I don't think the southpaw stance really played a major role in those fights apart from the Santos head-clashes, not the way that Margo lost them. Santos was just technically too good, and Williams out-put and quick start was just too much.

Margarito's style isn't one in my eyes that leads to him struggling with a particular stance. Obviously different styles he would struggle with - for example Mosley's aggressive, accurate power-punching style - but not stances. He's always hittable whether it's a soutpaw or an orthodox fighter, and he's always gonna try and pressure them and fight in the same way. And it's the same with Cotto, southpaw stance or not he's still Miguel Cotto and he's still got his limitations.

No other WW fighting today could do that besides Mosley, Except for Williams when he was @ 147lbs.
(Take and give = Vs. Margarito.)

The blue-print to beating Margarito was always to be aggressive in return and throw power-punches. Obviously you need certain attributes to be able to do so, all of which Mosley has. Great power, accurate punching, great speed, an excellent chin and aggression in abundance.

With a fighter like Margarito, it's going to be far more difficult to try and box off the back foot for 12 rounds, because it would require outstanding lateral movement, discipline and complete and utter focus for the full 12 rounds. Whereas if you do what Mosley did, you take him outta his comfort zone, and dismiss his own gameplan. And it was always on the cards because he's so open, the punches he was taking off Mosley on the ropes at times were scary because he didn't have a clue how to defend himself.
