It's been 14 months since the Shamrock fight.

Seen a article after the show on saturday that Strikeforce may do a interim middleweight title in Cung's abcence.

I know Strikeforce is happy with Le doing the movies because it gets them a small amount of PR.

Nothing personal against Cung, but he should be avaliable to defend his title against the top middleweights, not filming multiple moves.

With Nick Diaz and Jake Shields after the belt, and with no date of comeback or defence, should Strikeforce strip him of the belt and let Cung do action moves or make a interim title?

If they mandate that he defend his title against the number one contender and he cannot do it - then he should indeed be stripped.

They haven't, think Strikeforce are happy with what he's doing.
Which would maybe means a interim champion could be forth coming.. :think

I like watching Cung and his exciting Sanshou style.
But came into MMA late after a very succeseful kickboxing career which is why i wouldn't of thought he'd take such a long time out at his age.

I thought he maybe finish his MMA before starting in movies.

That's true - Cung probably should have waited to finish his MMA career before transitioning into movies - but in the movie business, one has to strike while the iron is hot and there are job offers out there. This move to films may very well mean the end of Cung's MMA and fighting career. Whenever he returns, he'll have to deal with rung rust and a dangerous contender.

He needs to choose if he is a fighter or not. Going more than 12 months without a fight is atrocious to say the least.

Cung has never been serious about MMA. He just used it as a stepping stone. He fought a few guys who didn't belong in the same cage with him and then set up his "superfight" with Frank Shamrock--a guy who's absolutely shot and fought a dumb fight. But that fight helped push Cung's Hollywood career, and he's not going to look back. You think that guy wants to step in the ring with a legitimate middleweight when he can make more money pretending to be Jackie Chan? Nope. I say strip him for good of his belt.

i personally want to see him fight and defend his belt, but the reality is he is done and on to other things that will have less wear and tear on his body

He is holding up other guys careers, if he knew he wouldn't be fighting in over a year the proper thing to do would be give it up rather then hold it hostage.

Yes. I am a what have you done for me lately kind a guy, and I don't like Cung Le's movies. Le got me wet for an attempted mma takeover, and ran for the small screen. I have no problems with that, but I do have a problem to continue recognizing him as champion.

Jake Shields is the new champ according to me. If Le has a problem with that, fight him.

I got no problems with Cung Le acting in movies. Le just isn't fighting, and has not done so in over a year. If he wants to continue as a champion, he needs to fight like one. Until then, long live Shields or whomever can defeat him.
