Should Danny Green have another one (or two) for the road?

    you want real?

tony mundine won every australian title from middle to heavyweight. so did darcy.

many aussie fighters fought above their weight to score a convincing win. vic patrick was an aussie lightweight champ. he beat aussie welter champ tommy burns for the welterweight title in one of australias biggest ever fights.

there are so many examples of fighter stepping up 10kg or more the mind boggles. if a man has the guts and belief, he'll fight a fighter at ANY weight. if mundine believes he can beat green, he'll simply say, i'll meet you there, and talk money not weight.

mundine would benefit more from weight gain than green.....mundines stats prove it:deal

Yeah fair point mate but in recent times when was the last time a fighter gave over 10 kg in a high profile fight ?? That does not include any fights at heavy as blokes give 10 kg often . I believe choc could get up to around 80 anyway so I guess they could make the fight at say 82 or 3 which Danny could make no worries .

Wasn't the RJJ fight at 81kg for the IBO cruiser title?

Wouldn't surprise me if a similar weight was used for a rematch with Choc. Green would come in at 81kg with Choc around 76-77kg.

Besides the Mundine fight, i don't think theres anything left for Green in boxing. He's not world class anymore in my opinion, especially at Cruiserweight, I can't see him being a threat to any top line cruiser. He's done exceptionally well for himself and I'd like to see him go the way of promoting/supporting the next generation of young Australian boxers.
Green has nothing left to prove, he's financially set and still has his health, sounds like the right time to call it a day.

when u r 1 round from claiming the world cruiser belt, aka vs wlod, i think it proves u r world class without a doubt.

    is he no.1?

most probably would say no, but he is a chance vs nearly all if he fights a smart fight imo.

he should just take the biggest payday possible, or fight danial ammann in perth and get a fitting local send off.

Time to retire, this crap about a heavy weight belt and 1 round away from world title is a load of nuthugger ****. he's fought 2 guys a cruiser and got banged the fark out. Had his crack and Mundine in his prime and got schooled and now he/you (huggers) want a 10kg advantage for a rematch Give me a break. :patsch If he really wants the rematch LH or pay mundine 60/40 for 82kg catchweight . but he wont pay mundine more than him.

C'mon guys. This is Danny Greeny we are talking about.Forget about him retiring just yet, he's far too greedy for that. Also forget about him trying to fight one of the legit belt holders at cruiser because Danny can't beat a legit cruiser at cruiser, he has NEVER beaten any cruiserweight at 200.

This is what he will do. He will have 1 or 2 more fights. His last fight will be back on home turf in Perth infront of his loyal dumb, ignorant bogan fans. It will be billed as Greeny's farewell retirement fight with Johnny Farnham singing the national anthem. The fans will absolutely lap that up. Once again Danny will bring out a huge name from the United States similar in pedigree to Danny Santiago to reward his loyal fans. Danny won't mention that his opponent is actually **** and normally fights at 168 and the fight will be set at 185-190.
Danny wins the fight gets on the mic with his **** smeared Greeny grin and states that he couldn't be prouder to finish his career infront of his very loyal educated boxing fans as the reigning cruiserweight king and 5 time 3 weight world champion.

    Danny we salute you.

I have never seen someone so negative, are you like this everywhere?

After Geale beats Mundine in January, Green and Mundine will both have nothing meaningful left in boxing other than perhaps that rematch.

The weight difference will always be the biggest hurdle in making the rematch happen though.

Mate a lot of what I say is being sarcastic at a situation. Honestly though what I have said will be fairly close to what happens do you not think ?

When he fought Wlod last time he was coming off a gift against Palacios and a suicide attempt on anti-depressants. He has since rematched Palacios and won fair and square. He would have an optional defence coming up and I would give Green props if he fought Wlod but would get KO'd again IMO.

I think its Odd for a man whos reportly got such a HUGE HEART not to take up a rematch with Wlod, he was winning on the cards and 2 rounds away from becoming the champ, why not rematch the guy and give it another crack? or could it just be that Danny has found a much more easy route to winning a title in the IBO.

If Danny Grinning Greeny had the balls to rematch Wlod would he insist on another bs 192 lb catchweight ?
