I can't let this slide, how is Haye anything like Holyfield? I almost got sick when I read this... Haye could smash up a lot of people he just lacked the balls to go and do it. I think he had actual skill but never made anything of himself. Holyfield on the otherhand was more than willing to mix it up with anyone anytime.

the comparison is trash and so is Haye's bid for the HOF...Hell the closest he ever got was getting shut out by Wlad

 

Haye is a lock for the HOF:

- most charismatic HW of last 10 years
- was in the celebrity jungle show
- highly rated in theoretical h2h matchups
- withdrew from 5 fights with injuries, more than any other title holder of past 20 years
- only lost to Wlad because of injury
- beat Valuev in global blockbuster title fight
- KO'd Chisora

Haye's achievements speak for themselves.

british hof, he would make if it existed, no doubt. 'HOF/ATG in CW division', possibly, but only because theres been precious few in that division to compete with so by that measure he would be one. I am not convinced thats enough, I dont believe in convenient 'sliding scales'.

And outside CW, no way.


to be hof you need some record, something outstanding, very memorable or historically important. that is what having fame is all about. Daves is the SHW Valuev win, which is highly contentious in its greatness - Val was one of the weakest HW champs in history.

Haye unifed cruiserweight and then did something remarakable in HW, just ONCE. Thats hof/atg for a cruiser, but not in the whole worldwide pantheon of hofers.
In my mind, he should have stayed at cruiser and set some records there, then he'd be an undeniable hof or atg cruiser. but he never did, possibly because it was beyond him.
At the very most, a 'HOF CW', and thats not much really considering the thiness of the division.

I dont think hes got the mindset tbf. He still has time to acheive hof, if hes faking the injury (which he probably is) then he can still 'come back' but hes unlikely to do it with his approach to sport.
