The thing is this that u have to understand...there are always a bunch of things that go on behind the scenes in the camp and before the fight that I just cannot expose, I cant touch on everything...but there are ALWAYS things going on that no one will ever hear about or know that affect a fight. Lets just for the record that I did the best I could in camp and in the corner under the circumstances...and there were MANY "circumstances" to deal with. People almost ALWAYS blame the head trainer and no one else and I understand that, too...but in my defense, there are other people involved who have influence (rightfully so or not)...the corner got messy because everyone was excited, were faced with a dilemma and let emotions overtake. On the surface u could watch that fight and say I didnt tell him all the great sounding technical advice that u expect but NONE OF YOU were there, you dont know what was happening before the fight and in the corner...lets just say that in a corner of a fight betweek rounds there is a time to give calm specific detailed technical instructions and there is a time to try and tap into a boxers emotions and heart and pride...again, you werent there and there are certain things I JUST CANNOT let you in on that would explain a lot. I would LOVE to defend myself and clue you in...obviously...but I just cant. Im sure the majority of you understand that.
Ice, the way Chad Dawsons legs were reacting to Andres shots, do you fear the weight loss have taken something out of Chad the way it did Roy Jones? Some of these elite fighters are never the same after they've done that yo-yo fluctuation, look at Roy and Chris Byrd.
Ill tell u this much...Chad is ADAMANT about giving Andre full credit...he is taking the stand that he lost to the better man...and Andre is a BEAST, he does EVERYTHING so professionally...I respect Chad's stance, too, he fought, takes full responsibilty, it just wasnt his night, etc...BUT as his friend and as a trainer looking to stay in the game I say, COME ON LOL, everyone knows weight was an issue! It was very clear...very, very clear...I know this for a FACT...so I am not trying to take any light off of Andre whatsoever, maybe he wins anyway, but to have anyone try and say Chad and his weight loss werent factors is INSANE. And, also, we took the fight at that weight, it is the nutritionist strength coaches responsibilty to get the weight off properly, etc...but the FACT is that sometimes the body does not respond properly, dont react as expected and hoped.
Nah we're cool with that John. I did notice you were a bit upset with Rafael, but everyone knows emotions were running high on the night. What's next for you?
Yeah, Magic, that was another indication, too...I mean Chad's never been stopped, NEVER reacted to punches like that, it reminded of Chris Byrd-Shaun George in the way his legs just werent there and they seemed to take on a life of their own...its just another indication that weight loss was indeed a factor...again, maybe Dre' beats him regardless but I AM 1000000 PCT. SURE it doesnt go down like that at 175...the mental and emotional strain and stress on a boxer and his mentality and confidence CANNOT be overstated.
Because Chads a real standup guy and a true fighter. Reminds me of how Thomas Hearns wanted Manny Steward to not talk about his broken hand at the post-fight press conference of Hagler-Hearns.
Yeah, I know he was caught up in the moment but come on, THREE people talking at once to a fighter in distress?? NO As for whats next, I am leaving my house in thirty seconds to the track to put a fighter Im training through some drills, he has a fight in late October in New York, undefeated welterweight, looking good...see u after, gentleman...
Was the plan for Chad to fight the way he did in the second round John? When I saw how he performed in that round I thought we were in for a classic. We didn't get the corners during the early rounds so I didn't hear the discussion at the end of that round.
only a complete **** sucker ****** thinks "real divisions" are separated by 7 ****ing pounds. candy ass ****s like you are whats wrong with sports and people in general. the first 100 years of boxing did ok without a 168 pound division... you probably dont even now the division has only been around 25 years or so
For sure, Dawson has took some hellacious shots in the past from guys like Glen Johnson and Jean Pascal, and he absorbed the punches, here his legs weren't there at all. Were there any indications in sparring that he had trouble recuperating from shots? I just hope Chad can come back strong at 75, I for one would like to see him fight Pascal again. Eddie Mustafa Muhammad had him fighting the wrong fight against Pascal, but in a sense I think Chad would've dominated Pascal late on anyways, if not for the cut.
:rofl coming from the perfect record of Jacory Harris, he is on record for over 2,000 posts and not one positive thing ever said about a white guy. thanks for your wonderful insight dummy.
the bottom line is obviously the weight affected him big time, but its a risk chad knew but still took and he makes no excuses. so why blame and ***** about after the fact by these esb members is beyond woman like . and to discredit ward like its his fault he was called out is just as bad. funny how joe calzaghe gets credit for beating old man coming off losses in their 40's , but Ward gets zero credit for fight a legit top champion in Dawson because he lost 7 pounds when he beat him. maybe Ward should have waited another 15 years to fight chad and got the credit he deserved like super joe
For me, I will NEVER discredit Ward, he did what he was supposed to...hes ALWAYS ready for 12 rounds..cant say enough about him...Im not trying to say we win otherwise, etc...it is just an issue, it is a FACT that we were affected...not taking any credit for Andre but not defending Chad and pretending the weight was perfect isnt going to go away if it isnt mentioned...the fight would have have been MUCH more competitive and interesting if the weight came off in better fashion...sometimes it just doesnt come off like you think and plan for it, too...
Who gives Calzaghe credit for those wins (even though your statement is false)? All I see on here are boz eyed gimps like you discrediting the wins. oops::dead
