I've been watching fights of his lately and the more I watch him and the great run he had after prison he should make the hall

Record: 40-5(33 kos) lineal lightweight champion, and IBF junior lighweight champion

champions defeated: Derrick Gainer, Joel Casamayor, Jose Luis Castillo, Acelino Freitas, Robert Garcia, and John Brown

won the lineal lightweight champion in possibly the greatest championship fight in the weight classes history.

Showed great heart and an underrated chin/recuperative powers....Castillo is the only fighter to have knocked him out, Casamayor won on cuts, and Mayweather got a stoppade and Chico still wanted to keep fighting showed tremendous heart.

Has one the highest ko percentages of any one to win the lineal lightweight championship and also won the IBF, IBA, WBO titles at 130...Win he beat Casamayor they were for trinkets but we knew it was going to prove the true man at 130 at the time.

    What do you guys think

His death bumps him onto the list.

It's a sad fact for me.

Does that mean Micky Ward gets in too?

imo u f*cked up the poll. just make it a "yes" or "no" poll. those 4 options dont make sense. pple can explain in the thread what they think.
I think Corrales should be in the HOF, because of his fights more than because of his accomplishments. same for Arturo Gatti

no. big difference. Ward never won a mayor belt and lost 2 of 3 against Gatti and imo he lost all 3 fights.
for example Gatti on the other hand held 2 world titles and has much better wins than Ward. no disrespect to Ward, but Gatti belongs in the HOF, or at least I can see him in the HOF, but Ward doesnt belong there.
same for Corrales- he had big wins and held mayor belts.

I'd agree that Gatti gets in, more by fan power than achivement though. He had that cult following in Jersey. His death, as with Diego's will create a sympathy serge for him, aiding his assention to the HOF IMO. It happens in all mediums of entertainment.

Diego's best win is that brilliant JLC fight, but asides from alphabet titles, he has no real names on his resume! An aging Casamayor and Angel Manfredy? Doesn't seem like enough dude! Not for the illustrious company he'd be in.

Borderline. There are a fair few fighters I'd have in before him, but it wouldn't be outrageous for him to be there. He was a beast at 130, and the way Mayweather handled him is still his most impressive performance.

Depends if Gatti gets in as well. If he does, it opens the door for other exciting fighters like Corrales.

I think so, his resume has a lot of wins that tend to get overlooked compared to the fights with Castillo and the Mayweather beating.

The guy had wins over champions in Freitas, Gainer, Robert Garcia (and took his 0, which isn't insignficant), Castillo, Casamayor. Plus he had comfortable wins against top/solid contenders like Angel Manfredy, Gary Saint Clair, Damian Fuller, ****** Juuko, and a still well regarded Steve Quinonez and he's solid Hall material.

And throw in his legendary heart. He was as tough as any man can be in his losses, evena against Clottey, and he gave us one of THE greatest fights of all time. He'll get inducted, no question. Sure the purist will complain, but he deserves it imo.
