Look carefully at the film foootage and pictures from different angels. It looks like Cockell´s knee is slighly off the ring floor when Marciano starts his punch. Cockell is very low, but his knee does not touch the ring floor before Rocky´s punch lands.

Cockell showed a ton of heart ....how many fighters today could take a beating such as the one Don Cockell received that night in San Fran???

Exactly! Cockell had a very good moment in round 6 that is forgotten and entirely overlooked. I’m not saying don had rocky hurt bad but he had his one moment. He caught rocky coming in flush on the jaw with a superb straight right that had a lot of steam on it. a regular heavyweight would have been hurt. watch it, The force even knocked Marciano away to to one side, don side stepped as Marciano span away in the opposite direction. Marciano did well to recover instantly but he still had to turn around 360 to face don who was far too far away to capitalise. Marcianos work rightly overshadowed this one lone moment against a horific beating but I beg everyone to acknowledge don's one moment.
