At this point he respected Rigondeaux too much, although he did land his best shots in the round, good left hook at the beginning and solid right hands afterwards, esspecially at the end of the round, Rigondeaux might have been slightly bothered by that last right, landed perfect on the chin.

 

Rigo wasn't hurt.. only reason he even got KD'd is because he squared up, and let his guard down expecting the ref to break..

Nonito thought about it, then saw how ready Rigo was to tap his ass, and he backed the **** up..

Only reason Donaire landed that left hook was they were both tied up on the inside and Rigo was squared up and probably thought they were going to be separated.


What that means is that Donaire will not be able to land that KO left hook even if he tried except for that once where Rigo and Donaire was tied up inside and Rigo wasn't protecting himself.

 

donaire set that shot up beautifully using an illegal tactic. he squared him up with the elbow before he landed the shot. rigondeaux was never really hurt from the shot. donaire's aggression would have only led to him getting ktfo'd. that's why he stood back all night.

You do realize that after the cheap KD Rigondeaux put a hurt on Nonito and have him back pedaling, and we didn't have fire works because nonitos reluctancy to engage after he felt GR power in the first round, GR stood in the pockect without moving for the first 4 rounds, daring the Pinoy to come in, nonito was scared and was lucky that GR broke his eye in the last round and not earlier...

 

Donaire could have just as easily got caught with a counter left/right if he did. He knew Rigo's abilities.

He should have because a knockout was his only chance, but realistically it might have done absolutely nothing for him.
