The obvious recent one is Cain-Big Foot. That **** was looking like a good, tough, high-level matchup. But it wasn't even a fight because Cain immediately took Bigfoot down, sliced him up right away, and after that a fully-conscious Bigfoot didn't have a chance because he could hardly see enough to tell which guy was his opponent and which was the ref.

But it's also, IMO, going to grow as a problem. It's too easy to inflict these cuts. PRIDE was all about the violence and brutality, They embraced the street-fight aspect of it all, yet they didn't allow these elbows. Why is that? :blood

I don't remember saying that elbows were the only possible way to open a deep cut, but I guess I must have. :conf

Since you know so much and I'm such a ******, maybe you could answer that simple question for me?

Why did PRIDE not allow elbows to the head and face?

They went out of their way to ban elbows to the head and face, while elbows to the body, stomps to the face and soccer kicks to the face were all A-OK.

So why no elbows to the face in PRIDE? What was their reasoning? You know so much, you tell me. :good

I'm not saying elbows don't cause cuts, but I do think that's an awful reason to ban them. All strikes cause cuts. It's just a part of the sport. Elbows can be, and are, used as concussive blows, just like punches/knees/kicks. An elbow can knock a guy out of a fight. You take them out, you take out another way to achieve victory.

Haggis...why can't you simply understand that since you asked the question: should elbow on the head of a downed opponent be banned, based on the premise that the risk to cut your opponent is prolly greater then any other type of attack in the fight ( If it's not the greatest risk of cut for the opponent, then why would we ban it ?)

Rob is simply using has a counter argument many many other cut made by anything but elbow.

Is that so hard to understand ?

NOTE: This message is my opinion, I could be wrong with my intepreation of Rob answer to you !

    :hat

EDIT: So as pointed out by Rob...I was right, Bobidi prolly understood...so why can't you ?

Is it because you are from the other side of the planet and are out of touch with american(has is living on the american continent) way of thinking ?

Could it be that YOU are the problem and not us ?:huh

Is it a stupid question that I asked? No. It's enough of an issue that the #2 MMA org in history, an org with a much looser ruleset than the current one, OUTRIGHT BANNED elbows to the head for the exact reason that I stated.

Did I try to **** on anyone else's opinion on this question? No. I specifically said that it's merely matter of opinion, and I was just curious to see how the opinion was divided.

So why the shower of abuse and ridicule for asking a simple, legitimate question? :conf

If I'm such a ****** that I have to be mocked and ridiculed for even suggesting that this is worthy of discussion in a ****ing MMA forum, then just clear it up for me in 2 seconds.

WHY THE **** DID PRIDE BAN ELBOWS TO THE HEAD AND FACE? WAS IT BECAUSE THEY ARE TOO VIOLENT, OR BECAUSE THEY CAUSE TOO MANY SERIOUS CUTS?

Who cares why Pride was structured the way it was?? Pride is over, enjoy the footage.

I'll take UFC rules anyday over soccer kicks and knees to the head of a downed opponent.
