I have to give major props to the author of the above story, Michael Dolan, on Emanuel Augustus's recovery above.
Very nice piece for those like myself who are interested in how Augustus is doing after being shot in the back of the head.

When I think about Floyd Mayweather's last fight giving Berto a good pay day, I really wish that he had selected Augustus instead to provide him with a nice retirement nest egg.

Augustus has the purest essence of the heart of a true fighter.
Even as he struggles to recover form the bullet wound to his head, he is still eating, drinking and dreaming boxing.

Not even close. I respect Augustus, but, the question posed is ludicrous.

Emanuel Augustus should most definitely be inducted into the HOF. He epitomizes what a FIGHTER!! is Fight anyone, anytime just give me time to get there. If any fighter was blatantly robbed time & time again it was Emanuel. With a good team behind him there is no doubt in my mind he could have become a great champion. He was NEVER given a chance he was always robbed. Where are all the boxing people that made $$$$$$ out of Emanuel today. That man has given everything he has to boxing why isn't boxing looking after him right now???
YES!! That's my vote for Emanuel to be inducted into the HOF He DESERVES!! to be there

Then all I can say is you do not have a clue what Boxing is its
The Fight Game!!. Augustus epitomizes the sport. He NEVER ducked anyone , he was blatantly robbed on many many occasions. When you have people like Stallone, King , Suliaman etc inducted the HOF has become a non entity today anyway. Some of the great champions enshrined there must turn in their graves . BUT I'd bet every one of them would welcome a FIGHTER!! like Emanuel Augustus into their ranks

You've read and exactly expressed my feelings as well.

Had Augustus been well managed, trained and pampered like a number of today's so-called stars he would have been possibly one of the most successful and fan loved boxers in history.

Forget the movie Southpaw. or Rocky, they should make a movie called, The Real Life Of An American boxer, based on Emanuel's life and career to show what it truly takes to be the best boxer in the sport.

If any boxer's record is not reflective of their true potential, it is Emmanel Augustus who has been robbed more than a 7/11 convenience store.

True HOF honourer that is more deserving than many of those previously inducted.
If Sylvester Stallone, Harold Lederman and Robert Deniro can be inducted then so can Augustus.

Let me tell you, real talent and heart are easily recognizable.

A year ago, my brother who is a world class Martial Artist asked me to give him some boxing matches to watch in his down time.
I gave him everything I had including the complete box sets in my possession for Bernard Hopkins, Evander Holyfield and Emaneul Augustus, neither of them were known to him.

One night he called me out of the blue excited and asked, "Who in the hell is this Emanuel Augustus guy. I love this guy"!
I laughed because he hadn't asked about Holyfield or BHOP, but Augustus.

He went on to express his frustration watching all the fights he thought Augustus won, but lost the decision amazed that in boxing such blatant robberies could occur.

That's the power of Emanuel Augustus. Once a previously non-boxing fan watch him work, they become instant fans.

A world Class Martial artist doesn't know who Evander Holyfield is? I can see Augustus, Hopkins a stretch but ok but Holyfield? Im sorry but no.

If you induct him, you're effectively opening a huge can of worms.
There are a number of fighters that have been robbed on a regular basis, and you can't deny others that would have had much better careers as well.

If you're going down that road, you better go all the way.
Where boxers get robbed, you also have to deal with the robbers themselves, who might have had a much lesser career if boxing was in any way fair.
Maybe they don't belong in the hall of fame.

That can of worms has been long ago opened when they started allowing non-boxing figures to be inducted, I.E, commentators, fiction writers, producers, actors, etc.
How the hell have Lederman or Stallone contributed more to the sport than Augustus? They haven't. They are just well connected parachutes.

The HOF should only be for those who have given their blood, sweat and lifetimes to the sport as active participants. This describes Emauel Augustus above those non-boxing, non-athletic parachuted inductees.

Well it is called the boxing hall of fame, not skill and a lot of folks have heard of Augustus. Not inconceivable that he could wind up in the hall.

I don't comprehend why this caveat is included when Augustus was one of the most skilled gatekeepers in the biz.
You don't hang with Micky Ward while fighting Ward's toe-to-toe style fight if you lack skills.
Personally, I had Augustus beating Ward, or at least, a draw.

You realize he got shot in the head, right? You know Mayweather beat him already, right?
