A boxing trainer isn't a personal trainer, his job isn't to get boxers looking like fitness models so your point is invalid.
Cheap shot,Ireally would trust a trainer who can turn an average boxer into a two weight world champion though!
Also there are some very weird boxing "fans" on here who when they have access to the likes of Billy ,Curtis etc(if of course they are who they say they are!) go out of their way to pee em off instead of getting an expert perspective and now and again a bit of inside knowledge,*******s!
Speaking of fat trainers.. Is Andre Ward free now that Goosen is dead? Maybe we can we see this guy now !!!
I'm going to say this for the last time as I'm bored of the whole thing. I do not understand why people like yourself insist on telling us that the likes of Billy should be put on a pedestal for us to all look at and admire. Billy's a human being like us, he just happens to be a part-time boxing coach too. I'm not going to bow down and accept everything he says. If he talks ****, as he is prone to do, he should be called out on it. A perfect example was the Gonzales fight. Rather than show humility and accept Ricky had been badly exposed he come on here gloating and crowing about how Ricky had "broken his heart". In doing that, he clearly ignored the huge shortfalls that were exposed in Ricky that night. He had zero head movement, was nearly always out of reach with his jab and looked a good half-step slow. Is it any wonder with his attitude that we never saw an improvement after that from Ricky?
Let's talk boxing here,I'm quite willing to concede that in your more lucid moments, when anger doesn't seem to get the better of you that you make some points I often agree with. However, purely as a fan I am more willing to listen to those actively involved in the sport rather than an opinionated layman, who often seems to go out of his way just to antagonise .This is counterproductive on a boxing forum where a full range of opinions should be welcomed.
I tried to engage with Billy very reasonably to begin with, but he was always deliberately obtuse or simply played the "I'm better than you" card. I therefore gave up. When someone picks and chooses the questions to answer, always avoiding those that are difficult or may show them to be wrong, I quickly lose respect for that person. Billy's a prime example of that in my view.
I concede your point re Billy and Ricky but don't you think that could be down to the, former, trainer not wishing to unsettle his fighter. But, I still think people who post on here if they are boxing professionals and when not talking about their fighters have a valuable perspective.
Absolutely, I can completely see what you mean, but in than scenario you are better off being quiet/ignoring the questions that bullishly making ridiculous predictions that make you look foolish afterwards. Wasn't Billy the guy who started the thread after Crawford beat Gamboa saying how well Burns must have done as Gamboa got KO'ed? How he managed to ignore the fact that Gamboa actually tried to win the fight is beyond me. His performance was ten times better than Ricky's who meekly surrendered his belt in an awful performance. Things like that make Billy come across as an idiot, whether he likes it or not.
Sol,my friend, I think you have just identified boxing,s equivalent of the captain on the deck of the sinking ship, ignoring the true events so as not to promote panic amongst the passengers(who,of course are all going to die anyway!)
Perhaps you are right. I just found that unbelievably pathetic from Billy. Was really childish. Anyway much of a **** as I might come across, it is purely to wind those people up who are incapable of conversing properly with me. I'm happy to talk boxing with those who wish to.
