Should Floyd Mayweather be stripped of his Junior Middleweight title?

    My answer is YES. He legitmately earned and defended his Super Welterweight title in the past. He last fought at 154 on September 14th, 2013. His next fight is at 147 on September 13th, 2014, a rematch that shouldn't be happening (more on that in a bit). That would mean that, assuming he fights at 154 in 2015, he would not have fought at 154 in 1 year and 8 months. No fighter should be allowed to carry a title that long without defending it. His upcoming fight should only for the WBA and WBC welterweight titles. He should either be stripped of the title, vacate, or be allowed to keep it as long as he's contracted to defend it on May 2, 2015.

    Now my other rant: the rematch with Maidana. When Maidana and Khan were presented as options for May 3rd, I didn't like either one of them, but I felt Maidana was the better option. For obvious reasons 1) Maidana was proven at welterweight going 4-1 (3 KOs) and 2) he held the WBA welterweight strap. Khan was 2-2 at 140, got knocked out and struggled in his tune up. Maidana was clearly the better option. I've said in the past and I stand by it: "He should only fight one of them, not both." He's got 3 fights left and he's rematching someone who, in my opinion, he clearly defeated 116-112. I know his detractors would say he's a coward for not rematching him because he lost or drew in the first fight but call it a cherry pick if he fights him again (even though they think he lost or drew). That's like saying Pacquiao cherry picked Marquez, slap yourself. So you know what I say: F U C K his haters, they'll complain regardless what he does.

    I've no problem with him (or anyone) holding it, as long as he defends it on time, against the appropriate challenger (whoever it is!) and at the full 154 limit.

    Obey the rules and I don't care if he holds the JWW belt as well.
    However, there's a very big chance he doesn't (have to) obey them.

    I couldnt care less about titles anymore really. does the RING actually have mandates for defending their titles - ie - mandatories?

    I'm a fan of Mayweather myself, but I don't think he should even have it anymore in the first place, since he last fought at the full LMW limit in 2012 against Cotto. Catchweight fights for belts are bull****, even if it's just one or two pounds.

    that's the million dollar question, because Floyd chooses who he wants to fight, and there's not a damn thing any federation can do about it?

    hell....he can even make polls on facebook, sit back, and fart at the screen while he leaves everyone hanging....

    its not his fault because who's rules of boxing apply to the sport's big players? nobodies.

    Only reason hes rematching him because theres enough people out there who hate him so much that they have to say stupid things like "Floyd lost" "Maidana was robbed"

    If they would have just stopped hatting for a while and actually told the truth instead of flocking to social media to say nionsense like the above, then Mayweather could have just moved on. Instead hes been given a reason to fight Maidana again..

    The whole belt thing is a mess. As as fighting Maidana again, Maidana was the most viable option out there.

    He's defending both his WBC 147 & 154 titles against Maidana in his next fight, it was approved by the WBC president.

    Your statement is wrong, he's defending it.
