Should Floyd Mayweather have been disqualified vs Zab Judah?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by NoChin, Jan 10, 2024.

Should Floyd Mayweather have been D.Q'd when his uncle stormed the ring in their 2006 bout?

  1. Yes. It's the letter of the Law. You have to stand by it

i dont really care but ive still never heard a proper reason why a coach can not only enter the ring, but start a fight with one of the fighters and get away with it. you know if anyone else tried that theyd have been instantly DQ'd, fined, and possibly banned.

Always said yes, he lost the first 4 got dropped then that happened. Carlos Molina got disqualified when his corner team accidentally entered 20 seconds early.

Roger letting his emotions get the best of him and entering the ring the way he did by itself qualifies as a DQ. The brawl that quickly developed because of Roger qualifies him to have lost his license as well.
Of course It was in Vegas though, so just a little home cooking.

Yes it changed the momentum of the fight as Judah was winning up until that point

Yes it was weird referee job that night.

Floyd certainly and clearly won the fight if scored by rounds.

But Richard Steele somehow missed Mayweather's knockdown in round 2.

It was as clear as it could be - Floyd went down after a single punch to the head. How a competent referee can miss that?

Then, Steele should have taken two points off of Zab when Judah blatantly fouled in round 10. He didn't do that and then Floyd's cornerman entered the ring (should have been DQ by the rules).

Weird decisions by Richard Steele that night

Of course he should just like others were. Dirrell VS Uzcategui comes to mind when Dirrels scumbag uncle entered the ring to hit Uzcategui resulting in Dirrell being Dqd.

Dirrell won by DQ, not lost. His uncle jumped in after the fight.

    Original question:
Honestly yeah, but at the same time I'm glad that he wasn't..................because that's one of the few fights he had where he had to discard plan A and use plan b, he earned that win

That's not true Judah done well in the first 4 rounds as he often starts out good in fights, but Mayweather took over in the 2nd half of the fight. And was having a very good 10th round when Judah hit him with a low blow and a rabbit shot which which actually halted Mayweather's momentum.

Absolutely should have been DQd. Different rules for Floyd in Vegas. He could have hit Zab over the head with a chair during the fight and still not gotten disqualified. Floyd was above the law in Vegas at that time. A reminder of the corruption cancer boxing infecting boxing.

He probably should have been DQ'd in the Judah fight. He definitely should have been DQ'd in the Ortiz fight. Or at least that should have been a NC.

Floyd could've been legit DQ'd as well as Judah for the intentional blow. Thank God refs have some leeway cause neither outcome would've given the fight justice. Cooler heads prevailed and they finished the fight.
Defend yourselves at all times. No DQ.

Yeah, given Judah's obvious and intentional low blow when things were getting out of hand, a NC would have been an appropriate call taking into account everything that followed. But, as you say, cooler heads prevailed and they finished the fight.

    Co-sign the Ortiz comment, too.
