i think his defence is born out of arrogance, he's basically saying you can't hurt me so i can keep my hands low, and a new trainer wouldn't change that. but he got put down and that will be a good thing for him long term, and he might be more careful in future (but i doubt it).

Which is fair enough, I wasn't pissed with that, it was that you brought McCracken into the equation.

You might know this, but McCracken's Mother died recently, on the day of Froch's fight with Pascal.

McCracken, later that evening, leads Froch into an absolute battle, and keeps his cool.

With a fighter as arrogant as Froch, all any Trainer can do is remind him what he should be doing and tell him what to do. If Froch uses this advice for any part of the following round, that is a bonus.

What Froch will do, is deliberately drop his hands and goad his opponent. This is not what Margarito used to do, Margarito let his chin out in the air because it didn't stop him walking forward and through enemy fire. Froch does it to make his opponent walk forward and therefore onto his shots.

It is something the fighter does instinctively. The old cliche is that you can train as much as you want but as soon as two men in a ring you go back to your instincts.

There was a moment in the Taylor fight (third round, the round he was dropped in) where Froch deliberately looks away from Taylor and drops his arms and steps forward, only to tighten his body again and throw a stiff jab. At first, it looks like a bad Roy Jones impression, but it's just Froch's awkwardness, not slick at all, almost jarring, his movements are so strange that his opponents don't quite know where the next shot is coming from, and feel it good to take a shot whilst his hands are down (something I think WILL play a part when he takes on the Kessler's/Andrade's/Bute's of the division, as they have more pop than Jermain (although Jermain is usually quite precise and powerful in the early rounds)

Sometimes it doesn't quite work and Froch gets caught, but he runs that risk as he truly belives in his punch resistance. Now Khan, who knows he cannot take a shot, is making a genuine effort to rectify his defensive problems. Froch often drops the gameplan ten seconds into the round because he feels at ease and doesn't mind what's coming back at him.

One thing I notice is that Froch often crowds his own work. Not good.

When Froch is really, really in trouble (and I think that will come sooner rather than later as he really seems to be truthful about his intetions to keep fighting amongst the top of the division) I think he will heed McCracken's advice, as he respects and trusts him, and that's clear to see.

One thing's for sure, Carl Froch was right! He said he would make a name for himself, and many people said 'The only thing he'll make a name for is for getting KTFO' or 'Taylor will ruin Froch'.

I will not lie, I predicted a Wide Decision win for Taylor.

Some where predicting a K.O for Taylor in under six rounds! Unbelievable. I was as shocked as most when Froch went down, but it was clear he wasn't hurt, it was a flash knockdown, which Andrade and Margarito suffered, so it's not as if to say Froch's chin has been shown up. He took a much better shot from Taylor a few seconds earlier and was not shaken.

The reason Froch was right is that now everyone is talking about him, wondering what he can do to get on in the game. That leads me to believe he has won some people over.

I'm glad to see no one saying Froch gut lucky, because, to be honet it wasn't a Pavlik-Hopkins/Calzaghe-Lacy-esque schooling until the stoppage. Froch was still in there but looking at losing a Wide Decision (apparently split, unbelievable I definitely had Froch losing going into the 12th, and big) but he was always competitive.

Oh, and to those saying 'Froch only one because Taylor has a stamina issue'. That's like me saying (if Taylor had won) that Taylor only lost because Froch has slow handspeed and isn't as good a boxer as Jermain.

Every fighter has their deficiances, and Froch showed more than enough for Taylor to capitalise on. Taylor had one big deficiency (stamina issues) and a slight chin issue (which still required, in both this fight and the 1st Pavlik fight, a fair few hits before it was cracked, so I don't think Taylor is glass jawed in the slightest)

I'm definitely a Froch fan now, but still unsure over his ability to beat the likes of Kessler and Bute. Would love to see it though, he brings excitement, a real edge of your seat fighter.

Nope. He is who he is and at age 31, no trainer is going to change that.

Fair play mate i didnt know about McCracken's mother, thats bad. I have to be honest it was a badly written thread , i meant would another trainer make a diffrence in froch's style.
I had Froch a round down but i thought the eye catching shots came from taylor earlier on, but Froch produced a grandstand finish and finished the fight as a true champion.
