Froch has some good things going for him in that he has a punch and a chin, but do you think Froch may benefit from a new trainer? Before you say how comfy he may feel with McCracken just consider a few things. Froch has a poor defence, dosent drive the jab, dosent cut off a ring, dosent throw combinations and is often lazy. I like Froch he has a great attitude in being willing to take on all comers, but can be so frustrating to watch and seems to give rounds away by being lazy. But still with the faults mentioned hes beaten Pascal, Taylor and Dirrell and made it a close fight with Kessler, but it seemed that whenever Froch caught Kessler with a good shot he seemed to stand off and admire his work allowing Kessler to recover. So do you think Froch would benefit from a new trainer who would make him work harder and throw combinations etc
Not really. I think Robert McCracken is a good trainer, his advice is often not followed though. His first loss was a close loss so I don't think he should do it. The only benefit I think from switching trainers is sometimes after being with someone for so long you kinda stop listening all the time. Sometimes a new voice is needed, but I don't think this is the case here.
since he tries to fight with his hands low in a american kind of way, i think he needs an american coach to polish up on his skills, but in all honesty aside from heart and a granite chin, i havent seen much skill and technique or ring generalship lately, feel free to correct me though.
how old is froch now 33 ? no matter who trains him hes not gonna change its too late he fights how he fights its his style its the way he likes it atleast he's comfortable with mcracken and it seems like he trusts him so id leave them together
froch seems 2 hav ability but also seems 2 b a fool he believes that he can actually outbox opponents when he has very limited boxing skills in fights against pascal, taylor and dirrell ( i thought he lost dirrel fight) he was losing all the fights til he dicided 2 ditch his 'boxing skill' and actually make the fight rough when he actually gave opponents trouble
I think that fight was Froch's to win. But he wasn't aggressive enough. It's either that Froch lost focus or Kessler's body work took a toll.
No, I believe Froch to be similar to Ricky Hatton, in the fact both of them just do what they like when the bell goes for the 1st round. Froch never seems to listen to his trainer anyway, so I doubt a new one would make any difference. He feels comfortable with McCracken though so they should stick together at this stage of his career.
Froch doesn't want to turn himself into a boring safety first get the punches and get out of range type of fighter.
I agree, and I like Froch. I kinda feel im kicking the guy when hes down, which isnt meant to be the case. When Froch fought Adamu he gave rounds away by being lazy, in a fight he could easily have won. In his fight with Magee, he knocked Magee down in the 1st round and then let him off the hook allowing Magee to make it a harder fight than needed. With Pascal he left himself open taking alot of shots. Against Taylor he allowed Taylor to land combos at will without throwing any. With Dirrell he didnt know how to cut off the ring, just followed Dirrell around, didnt fight on the inside or throw any combinations. Against Kessler he would land a good shot and then admire his work rather than follow up on anything allowing Kessler back. I felt if Froch had of shown more aggression against Kessler, been a bit more active and followed up more he could have well forced a stoppage. I know Froch and Calzaghe have alot to say about each other, but some of the things that made Calzaghe effective was that he wasnt lazy, didnt stand off and admire his work, threw combos and punches in bunches, and could cut off a ring. Hopefully Froch will have learnt a bit in defeat, though im not sure after his comment about if the fight had of been at home. But if he has he may well come back more determined and stronger. Good luck to him, he has some good names on his resume all the same
He has a good trainer and he did pretty good in this fight since he's not the most skilled fighter to begin with. He could certainly improve in a lot of areas, but the main ones would be A) his workrate b) his defense c) being agressive the whole fight.
He dosent have to. Just throwing more combinations could make him more effective than one shot at a time
