I suspect he knows that undisputed starts a new lineage. So he wants to keep as much leverage possible for a massive pay day if he returns

If Fury said he is retired (as he has stated many time since the Whyte fight) then the WBC should make the belt vacant straight away.

However the WBC president said straight after Fury claim he has reported than he would be getting in onto the with Fruy to confirm this officially. So has the WBC failed to act on their words (certainly wouldn't be the first time) or has Fury informed them he isn't retiring despite stating everyone multiple times since the Whyte fight?

Give him until the end of September. He can't really make plans until Usyk/Joshua 2.

If come November he's still retired then have Joe Joyce fight for the belt before year end.

2 months after his last fight though. Fighters should probably be only expected to fight twice per year in normal circumstances, if they have mandatory fights that is.

If you announce retirement it is different. Champions should be held to a certain standard of conduct.

    Hostage .. are u stupid?

boxing is a business dummy.. you think the WBC wont sit out the Joshua Usyk situation first & see if cash cow Fury wants to take the winner for all the marbles? Mega event.. $$$$$$$... Why would they let old man Ortiz that couldn't sell out an ice cream van fight for it Again right now LOL..

WBC are known to allow their champions ridiculous lengths of time between fights anyway .. they did it with Vitali, Martinez etc.. nothing new about Furys situation here

Even if Fury had vacated, I don't see why either should be fighting for the vacant title. From everything I can see neither is the No1 contender for the WBC, and neither has done anything in years to deserve a title shot.

Given Fury's history and his retirement talk they need to keep him on a short leash.

They should declare a mandatory in October to be faced before the end of January.

The important thing is making sure the champion is worthy. It's already an embarrassment to have the HW champ saying he's retired and talking about exhibition fights, imagine if he went back to being a 400lbs drunk?

He needs regular fights for his own good and god knows he won't do it on his own.

Exactly, that's the interesting part of this model compared to other sports that have yearly champions. It should be a hard prize to hold on to.

Ruiz's last two fights were a one sided loss to Joshua, and getting a decision against a 40 year Arreola, during which he was knocked down and Arreola injured his shoulder.
