a writer on a message board is close enough.

there's nothing wrong with being a boxing geek. boxing is the greatest sport on earth.

He only had the title for a year and the only great win he had was over an old Pedroza. Who didn't beat the lazy Laporte? Bernard Taylor was vastly overrated and never did anything. That is not an HOF career.

Gatti beat Tracy Harris Patterson, Calvin Grove, Gabe Ruelez, Joey Gamache, Terron Millet, Ward, and Jesse James Leija to name a few; a lot better competition than McCguigan. If I say that Gatti doesn't deserve to be in the HOF, then Barry really doesn't deserve to be in.

imo, no. gatti simply was'nt a great fighter. i respect him and what he gave to fans, but i think thats not HOF material. i'm pretty sure he will be in it (canastosta) though, considering the hall needs to induct as much recognizable names each year to draw in the money. but if the criteria for the HOF were based purely on greatness, gatti would be hard pressed to make a case for it.

who didn't beat ward and leija? at least laporte went even with legends like chavez and pedroza and unlike eusebio, barry didn't win by having a lenient ref look the other way when he launched a pearl harbor like assault on his testicles and kidneys before winning an extremely close decision.

the gamache debacle was a disgrace. what was grove by 1997? ruelas was mentally shot after killing garcia.

personally i don't think gatti or mcguigan should be hall of famers, but at least mcguigan scaled greater heights than gatti and is slightly more deserving of the hof

    Not even close.

I respect Gatti, but he fought great...he was not a great fighter.

IMO they let to many people in the HOF already, but no way you can make a serious argument for him being a HOF fighter. He never was the true champion in any division and his biggest fights were against Irish Micky Ward.

People dont realize what gatti brought to boxing. In no means was he the best boxer. But he was an exciting fight. He was a great fighter and brawlers dont last long in the sport. There are fighter already in the HOF not as good as gatti. But that means nothing. Judge him alone on his accomplishments. Having the best heart of all boxing. Not dodge oppenents making every fight exciting helping boxing through the 90's it would be a shame if they didnt. If we had more gatti's boxing would be much better. Great humble fighters. Not pieces of **** like mayweather who says i dont like boxing. Just doing it for a check..... I dont think fighters like mayweather could ever come close to what gatti did for a sport. After watching a gatti fight thousands of people picked up gloves and got into the sport cause watchin him is inspiring! Watchin mayweather is an aid to help u goto sleep. He gets 0 respect till he fights Cotto and P Williams! Better yet i hope OLDH wins and tarnishes his rep!

    NO.....Why?

Because it would be unfair to all those other fighters who took brutal beatings and DIDNT get huge paycheques.

Honestly where do i begin on this awful post.
when did floyd say he doesnt like boxing? the only thing he's ever said is that he is bored with it right now. how could a man that has boxed since he was a kid say he doesnt like the sport?

You say mayweather couldnt come close to what gatti has done for the sport? as i recall this past year floyd has been in he two biggest fights of the year and ha brought many new fans to the sport.

You also criticise mayweather's style. if you were a real boxing fan you would respect all styles aand appreciate them because everytime these guys are in the ring they put their lives on the line.

You then top it off by saying mayweather gets no credit until he beats williams and cotto? WTF? so winning titles at 5 different weights and becoming lineal at 3 of those doesnt earn credit? giving boxing its two biggest fights this past year doesnt earn you credit?

you obviously never seen pbf at the lower weights for you to say he is an "aid to go to sleep". do you want him to slug it out with guys that are bigger than him?

He beat an ODLH and gatti. He needs to fight the best of the best. Like delhoya did. The man fought every1 the public wants to see. Thats why u cant rip on the man. Belts dont mean **** to me or anyone theese days. What matters is beating the best of the best. Mayweather i dont think would take a fight against cotto, spinks, or paul williams. Okay he is bored of boxing????? Do you think gatti would ever say that. The man would still be in the ring if he could he loved the sport and gave everyone who loves to watch the sport there moneys worth. Before Hatton every mayweather fight since corales was a piece of ****. Can u say gatti had more then 2 bad fights in a row! Arutrio "Thunder" Gatti.

Ohh by the way the reason why people pay to see the pay per views... Cause everyone wants to watch when he gets his loud mouth Knocked OUT! People dont pay to see him. Mostly Europeans bought the hatton and the first one is Mr. PPV Dela Hoya. I think if i fought Oscar the PPV's might be close..

    :patsch
    PBF victories
    G.Hernandez(wbc lineal and lineal champ)
manfredy top 3 at 130, corrales Ibf champ undefeated p4p fighter. chavez top 5 contender
    castillox2 lineal 135 champ
    Gatti number 2 rated JWW
Judah ibf champ at 147.....baldomir undisputed WW champ
DLH # 3 rated JrMw wbc champ(at a weight pbf has never fought)
    Hatton undisputed JrWW champ

so tell me how pbf hasnt beaten the best?

you say YOU dont think pbf would take a fight with cotto or the others? how the hell do you know? you dont

who gives a damn if gatti would ever say he was bored with boxing? if a fighter has been boxing their whole damn life dont you think he deserves a break? if he is bored he is bored so what. this is the problem with the sport fans like you just care about your entertainment and dont realise fighters are risking their lives in the ring

another dumb statement you made was that you said all of pbf's fights post corrales have been ****. so the castillo fight, augustus fight, corley fight, bruselles fight, gatti fight, judah fight, mitchell fight were all ****?

This forum is so full of mayweather fans its sick... Until hatton all of his fights were ****!!!! I seen them why cant u admit it. I like the mayweather that fought hatton and if fought like that more often i would jump on that ban wagon. but the man is all talent but is a ***** in the ring cause he dont wont to take a punch. Not saying he cant but with out having the take a punch to deliever a great punch is **** for boxing. When u are the best P4P shouldnt u be dropping people? Roy Jones Jr is prime example. And i have seen almost all of floyds fights.
