This mindset is the very problem. Last I heard boxing is a sport. Now I know it's the hard reality, but it's also this reality which makes a class act like Geale have to make garbage decisions. Geale shouldn't be virtually forced to fight this muppet just because of money.
Geale shouldn't chase Martinez just yet, don't think he could handle him at this stage..... He's better getting a few decent wins and pay checks before chasing the no1 in the division.
Kostya Tszyu managed to make plenty of money travelling overseas to unify titles without having to carry on like a dickhead in the media. I think Geale can do the same. **** Mundine, look at him still trying to sell his 'first man to win titles in 3 descending weight divisions' - talk about desperately trying to polish a turd :-( Everyone knows he moved down to avoid the Kessler rematch and then the Geale rematch...look at him sniffing around for a shot at his title, Geale doesn't need him - onwards and upwards for the Real Deal.
Ironically he got that Ash the first time he fought and was robbed by Boxa. You live in a bubble if you believe that Geale needs another fight with "The First Man Ever Ever" to raise his profile here. You confusing profile with profits.
That mindset is the ONLY thing that matters. What would be "garbage" about him fighting the only guy who's beaten him. It increases his profile more than fighting ANYONE else would, here in Australia. Daniel's got a wife and 3 kids. I hope he makes as much coin as he can. To not do so, would be madness.
Not in the context Ash is using. Ash is a desperate nuthugger using this bull**** excuse to legitimize "The First Man Ever Ever" having a reputable fight without having to leave the comfort of his own backyard. Typical nonsense from nuthuggers willing to support a big mouth who doesn't back it up. It is "The First Man Ever Ever" trying to earn a living off the reptution built by a legitimate world recognized champion. Something he will never "ever ever" be. The next release by "The First Man Ever Ever" will have innuendo regarding who is the best Indigenous boxer in Australia....watch this space for the race card!!
There isn't any fight at Middleweight that will increase his profile here in Australia, like a Mundine fight will. I include Maravilla in that as well. The fact that the first fight was a real close one, will only increase public interest. The more exposure Daniel gets, the bigger his purses will be. I wish him luck.
I disagree. If he fights "The First Man ever Ever" for a second time and the the result is as dubious as the first how will that be a positive for his boxing profile here in Aus....it will be L2 on his record. That needs to be weighed up as to being a positive or a negative. in my opinion it be would a huge step backwards for Geale not only locally but for his international reputation as well. This is what I am referring to as the difference between Profile and Profits.
The result of the first fight wasn't dubious. It was a close fight that could've gone either way. I scored it to Mundine by a point. It wasn't a robbery, that's for sure. I think most people believe that Mundine has slipped since then. Regardless, Daniel has definitely improved.
Mundine is the best one out there for him financially... and from recent performances of the two Geale would win IMO...
The biggest question I would have for Geale when being offered to fight "The First Man Ever Ever' while your star is rising do you want to be portrayed on the international stage in a Boxa promotion. These promotions are cringe worthy and an embarrassment to local boxing, imagine how it would be assessed international. Let's not be mistaken, an international audience will now view this fight with interest solely in Geale. RISK v REWARD........the old adage. Geale has everything to risk and I doubt "The First Man Ever Ever" will offer a smart and savvy Geale the reward (respect) he deserves now that he is elevated to a true international champion.
