Is Golovkin in your top ten P4P?

The only reason I voted no is because he hasn't faced the best in the division, and hasn't beaten any fighters at the 168 pound division.

I think he's P4P material, but he hasn't beaten anyone to be considered top P4P.

Obviously, the rest of the MW division thinks he belongs, since they're avoiding him like the plague.

He is getting there based on activity and title defenses. But just looking at ring top 10 p4p (which is ridiculous most of the time) I wouldn't put him in front any of those guys. Fighters like Froch and Canelo have beaten more top names in their divisions and they are the lower tier p4p fighters.

Yes, I have him at either #9 or #10.

    Pros:
    - One of the most dominant champions around at the moment: Knocking out solid top 10 guys barely dropping a round.
    - Highest KO% of any champ and possibly biggest P4P hitter in boxing today.
    - Hasn't really looked troubled yet and never been down as an amateur or professional.
    - Clear best in his division.
    - Has good skills and accuracy.
    - Its hard to see anybody beating him unless you look a weight class above and even then he would probably be favourite against everybody bar P4P rated Ward.

    Cons:
    - Hasn't faced elite competition (through no major fault of his own, and though not a criteria in itself, his being avoided is an indication of how highly he is held in the boxing world.) However his performances vs. experienced guys at world level such as Macklin and Geale are a good barometer of his placing. And P4P lists, are subjective by nature and should allow some room for the eye-test to be a factor along with resume. The fact that he hasn't faced real elite yet doesn't mean he isn't one of the best 10 fighters in the world, it just means that maybe he hasn't solidified or proven it yet.

A good case can be made either way really but personally I think he deserves his place and hope he gets the chance to prove it.

    Proksa #9
    Macklin #6
    Stevens #9
    Geale #2
    Rubio #5

All dispatched via KO, flotsam like Rosado, Ishida, Adama also dispatched brutally.

Worth a place at PFP #10 imo

If Golovkin wasn't P4P Top 10 before Rubio (he wasn't) he's surely not after. That KO was aestetically pleasing. But he was hardly a high level middleweight.
