Lets not fool ourselves. Berto was tha man at ww after pac and may and kell was his real star fighter. He wanted to build that relationship with dibella so he could make that fight. Infact i remember the time dibella played the fight down abd eddie wasnt on his balls so much after that.

Retirement seems a bit extreme to me- he has been unlucky with injuries recently but Calzaghe was hardly injury free himself and he still achieved a lot later in his career. Barker's style, whether you like it or not, should allow him to have a more prolonged career than most boxers as well

There must be a reason for all of these injuries though?

Too many gym wars, Over training, Not training very smart, Or maybe a combo of all three?

He has got to fight Macklin though. That has to happen sometime down the line.

I'd fight Macklin, Murray, and maybe Sturm and call it a day.

Can anyone confirm how long Darren stays out the gym between fights, does he stay in shape, or does he indulge ??, its a serious question, this **** matters on the longevity of your athleticism

Boxing Analyst, Barker seems to be one of your boys, whats the gen mate ??

As he is a full time pro fighter I think he does not have much option but to fight on and try and make some ££££ out of the game.

Shame because he seems a nice down to earth typ of guy.

I don't know him personally mate  but he did balloon up a bit after the Sergio defeat.

I like Barker, he's on my favorite domestic fighters, he gets quite a bit of stick for some reason, but he's a humble guy with a solid skill set :good

Berto had lost to Ortiz before Martinez-Barker was signed.

    Retire? No.

He's worked for what 20 years to get to the position he is in now, why would he throw it all away because of a couple of injuries?
