GGG and any other top fighter should ignore canelo and his crooked team of scumbags, let him beat the nobody's and finish with a hundred wins.
Maybe GGG doesnt care about the extra 10 million? Maybe he's ok with the money he made from prize fighting and his endorsements and sponsorship deals. Maybe he knows that a highway robbery is coming in the next fight? I cant speak for the man, but maybe his dignity wont allow him to get robbed the way Kov did. You guys think a rematch would sell as well as the first fight? I dont think so. People are pissed about the result. Also, Canelo's fan base is a heavy mexican fanbase and they are NOT happy with how he fought. I would know because as an immigration lawyer and someone who is heavily involved with the restaurant industry I know many mexicans. A group of them were clowning Canelo HARD today saying he fought like mayweather and ran and that GGG is the true mexican fighter. I kid you not these things were said. At the bar I was at there were over 100 people, all mexican and all canelo fans, as soon as he got on the mike and said he won the fight they were screaming "puto" and other obscenities. I dont agree with that reaction but that's what the mexican fan base wants to see. Canelo stature took a hit this saturday. Facts. So for a 40 million dollar fight in the rematch, GGG can maybe take home 10 million but near guarantee himself an L? If the next fight is even a hair closer GGG loses.
I've watched this fight 5x in full already. Canelo had to fight his ass off to give the "look" of a closer fight than it truly was. I thought canelo would be able to take over the 35 yr old king going down the stretch but it was more ggg doing all the real damage. I only accept the gift "draw" strictly off being able to see the 2 best mw's in a very long time. The amount of skills on display was insane. Made kov v ward look like B & Level fights. In the rematch ggg will attack from the opening bell and get the stoppage by 10. GREAT matchup, styles meshed greatly. True neutral scoring was 8/4 that could stretch all the way to 6/6. Loved it and both fighters proved their greater than either had ever been given credit for. Canelo is more fluid and flashy but ggg is a ****ing machine. Major props to both warriors
Michael Montero a guy I've always enjoyed watching asked the awkward questions about that judge,in his pre fight prediction he got it spot on only he said GGG by close decision which as we all knew was never gonna happen. Of course he will take the rematch and of course it's gonna be at the same venue on Cinco De Maya but really is it too much to ask for K2 to have some say on who's gonna be judging this fight cause the world is watching and I just think it speaks volumes when a pro Canelo crowd was booing Canelo which IMO is wrong as I believe that guy just wants to be on the big stage,it's his management who should be booed and in the rematch the judges should be looked into pre fight.
Well bloody said, judging aside it was an elite boxing match and just like AJ V Wlad another 50/50 fight it delivered as these jobs always do. Canelo in particular showed me something I'd never given him credit for and yet he still lost but for a guy fighting his first true middleweight bout against the no 1 middleweight of the decade there's no shame in going twelve rounds with GGG albeit in a losing cause in the majority of viewers.
It won't sell as much because people already know what the outcome is. G just got a moral victory. Majority know he's declining.
A moral victory would have been the W. Of course he's declining. Most boxers do at his age. I've been harping on about this since the Rubio fight. Oscar Dela Hoya was 31 when the Sturm robbery happened, in his 40th fight. Oscar had 230 amateur fights while GGG has 350. Think about that.
If he is desperate for money, sure rematch Canelo whenever Canelo decides to rematch him either on May or next September again. If he is looking to cement his legacy, fight BSJ and then defend against Charlo. If you can slip a mandatory defense against Cotto instead of Charlo, go for it. The draw is controversial to his favor so wether he decides to bend over for a rematch for Canelo or go his own way is up to him and his team.
He probably makes 3 or 4x the money fighting Canelo than he gets with anybody else, so if he is in it for the money that is what he should do. But of course, if they do fight again it will be the same deal in Vegas, Canelo making all the rules, Oscar bringing in the judges etc....It's up to GGG to decide if he wants that.
