Should Golovkin have been DQ'd?

Bika got disqualified for almost the exact same punch.

So Canelo is gonna throw the title in the trash bin?? I doubt that even the corrupt WBC will let him avoid mandatory until 2017. He might just release the title though. Or they can somehow guarantee a fight with Golovkin. It will be hard for a prideful fighter like Canelo to give his belt alway. Provided that Canelo beats Cotto that is.

No, of course. But Lemieux should have been given time to recover. A point could have been deducted, but it was clear Golovkin didn't do it intentionally.

Exactly, the problem is that Lemieux waited some time before taking the knee and took it slowly to go down. He just looked like he was gonna duck the shot like he did up to that point. That's what made the knee unclear.

I'd have been fine with a one point deduction and 5 minutes to recover for Lemieux.

I'm anticipating a rematch or trilogy with Cotto, and/or a rematch with Floyd, and/or a voluntary defense along the way.

The WBC makes stuff up as they go along, and will ultimately do whatever is best for the WBC. If what's best for the WBC coincides with what's best for GGG, then maybe we'll see it sooner than I'm expecting. But that's not what I'm anticipating to be the case.

I was a big fan of Cotto and still am in a way. But it is time for the new generation. I hope that Canelo beats him decisively and Floyd stays retired.

It was similar but Bika does not know how to calibrate his power like Golovkin so he Knock him out.

Yeah, against Mendy. BeastsideBoxing posted the video and there's quite the resemblance to Golovkin's punch with the difference that Mandy stayed down. I actually think, Golovkin might've faced disqualification if Lemieux had stayed down. If Lemieux had Hopkins' ring smarts, he probably would've not stood up. David wasn't winning that fight any other way so might as well.

Roy Jones said if that was him he would have been disqualified. I think what he really meant was that if that was him that had been hit he would have been KOed. Eventually arising on baby deer legs.

    Unlikely.

I expect that matter to be settled very decisively in November.

No, I think (and I think that Floyd thinks) that this would be a more dangerous outing second time around for Floyd.

    Canelo has improved.

He would be at a more comfortable weight.

He would have the benefit of the experience of the first fight.

    Floyd is older and slower.

Final possible reason: Floyd's testing would be more closely scrutinized ( TUE etc)

If Floyd fights at all, expect Pac (who he feels more comfortable with) or someone less threatening.

The WBC are subject to the US courts, and GGG might want to press the issue.

Honestly, if Roy Jones and Abraham got DQ then if we follow the rule Golovkin probably should have been disqualified. But I'm not saying I wanted Golovkin to be disqualified, I am happy that he got away with it.

Let's just say that Lemieux was man enough to not fake his way to a DQ unlike Dirrell.
