No I dont think so. Groves just looked like he was trying to get out of the way. Froch didnt look like he had a clean shot. I dont think Groves was that badly hurt
I would have ticked a box for incredibly questionable stoppage...... but not terrible stoppage. One of the camera angles shows how clean some of the power shots landed on Groves were in that last flurry. The main angle made it look terrible. Standing 8 count would have been right I think. Tough for a ref in that situation but still a poor decision.
If Groves should've been stopped, then Froch should've been waved off immediately when he got his lights turned out for a second by Groves, in the first round. It's complete bollocks.
I thought it was premature but IMO Groves hands are down and his back is turned. I wouldn't have wanted him to take a flush shot in that situation. If he was noticeably down on the cards I don't think many people would have complained.
The poll reflects exactly what happened , a ridiculous stoppage and an all time classic fight tainted !
Ridiculous stoppage. Froch landed 1 clean punch through that exchange. The more skilled fighter lost.
Froch got the benefit of the doubt were as Groves wasn't given a chance by the ref. Very disappointing stoppage.
Yep, Froch hit the deck with his back and was obviously wobbling on ***** street. That would have been a much more justifiable stoppage :deal
I think I've seen at most two posters say it was good. Majority seems to be split between 'premature but the end was several punches away' or that 'Groves would have recovered'.
Still standing, ready to keep fighting. Wasn't like he was decked on his back like Froch was in the first rnd :-(
