Gomez was Mr Excitement and he will be a loss to the Sport. He was a great British Champ, but had too many inter-continental and WBU when he would have been better of following the traditional route in pushing for a European fight. Around the time of the Bognar & Lear defeats there were top fighters holding the world belts, however a stoppage defeat against one of those would have looked better on the record than the likes of Lear and Bognar, and as a puncher himself who knows if he had connected against anyone.
He would have fell extremely short at the top world level. He is overrated by a lot of people, partly due to his excellent win over Arthur.
