Should Haye have fought Wlad or Vitali 1st?

    IMO,

Haye made a really bad decision taking Vitali (a less winable fight) instead of fighting wlad.

Wlad would be vulnerable to what haye brings to the table...Vitali is only vulnerable to injuries or age (IMO).

    Thoughts?

He'd have to fight them both anyway...and those saying Vitali is automatically tougher for Haye are undervaluing Wlad. Wlad does things better than Vitali to - he's a harder one-punch hitter, he's younger and with more recent ring time, and probably plays the 'keep away' game slightly better too.

Haye's chances of getting a fight with Wlad are probably boosted whether he wins or loses against Vitali, too.

Vitali is the best HW in the world, right now, and Haye has got balls and guts to take him on. So, in terms of respect, attitude and if he wins, legacy, then Haye is 100% right to take the fight.

In terms of which would be the easier fight for Haye, then obviously that would be Wlad. But I'm glad he went for Vitali...
The undisputed crusierweight champion stepping up to take on the best heavyweight? **** YEAH. :good

vitali..because if he loses he still has the wlad fight there, but if he lost to wlad, vitali would be meaningless.

Haye is smart in takin Vitali first. Here is the reason:

Haye knows he is the underdog vs. both of them. Vitali isn´t around anymore in 2-3 years. So in 2009 he can earn money with him and if he doesn´t lose really, really badly, he can still go for Wlad in 2010/2011 and make another huuuuge payday.
If he would go for Wlad now and lose badly........nobody would be interested in Haye-Vitali anymore, because all the people know, that he wouldn´t stand a chance.

I think Haye earns 15 Million more, if he takes on Vitali now and Wlad in two years or so.

I actually think Vitali is the easier of the two brothers. He may have a tougher chin, but his mobility around the ring is less. He also comes in with his guard lower, does not throw as much punches per round. I feel if haye keeps his distance and times his shots properly, he could be lucky enough to steal a points victory. Or Vitali could injure himself again...

Do you know how many rounds Vitali has lost in his career? Im guessing single digits. I can't see anybody beating him on points. The only way I see him losing is if he injures himself...And that wouldn't be the glamorous victory haye would be looking for (although he'd obviously take it).

Wlad, on the other hand, is vulnerable to a knockout. Haye could definetely catch Wlad and maul him and put his lights out...Making him an instant superstars internationally. Can't see that result in any scenario vs vitali.

He wouldn't of beaten Wlad anyway so its better for him to fight the better brother and gain more credibility if he wins. But that is a big if.

Wlad, because then if he wouldve won, Vitali couldve beat him up in revenge.

Let's get a few things straight.

First of all, Vitali is not a "less winnable" fight than Wlad. Vitali is going to be 38 years old, with only 1 fight in the last 5 years. He is injury prone, and the reality is that Wlad is a better boxer anyways. Vitali is much slower on his feet, and slower with his hands, which he holds very low. Haye would have a much greater chance of getting to Vitali, although Vitali does have very good defense, and reflexes... than he would at getting in on Wlad. People are honestly kidding theirselves if they think that beating Wlad is easier than beating Vitali. Also... people are kidding themselves if they still believe the myth that Wlad has a weak chin. Really... not only has he never shown a weak chin, but he has clearly shown that the problem that he DID have before... which was that he didn't know how to pace himself, and he used to get flustered when it was his opponents turn to throw some punches. Wlad was always so dominant early in his career that he never ran into those problems. When he did... he was shocked. He is clearly over that now, and people need to get with the times.

Also, Haye vs Wlad isn't that big of a fight right now. It would be big... but not HUGE like it could be if Haye proved himself at heavyweight first. There isn't a SINGLE casual boxing fan that I talk to who even really knows who Haye is. Not only that... but they don't have enough time to promote the fight within the time frame that Wlad has to fight his next fight, before he fights Povetkin within 9 months.

Now... if Haye were to actually win against Vitali, we would have the biggest heavyweight fight on our hands in many years. Then, Haye vs Wlad makes great sense, the fight would be huge... marketable everywhere, and it would be exactly what the division needs.

Haye hasn't proved himself yet... let's see how he does against the older, injury riddled, inactive Klitschko before he goes in there and fights the best Heavyweight in the world.

    Yup.

And let all the negatives surrounding Vitali be known (ring rust, age, injuries etc) and contemplate them before making your pick on this fight!

If you pick Vitali regardless, you must give Haye credit if and when he wins...not try to pick apart the loss :yep

Wlad would be obviously the easier fight, Wlad has a shown a very weak chin against bangers in the past (Peter, Brewster, TOS, and Sanders), especially against guys who have not only heavy hands, but quick one's as well, something Corrie Sanders displayed in 03, knocking Wlad all over the ring on way to a 2nd round TKO.

Haye got balls, he certainly got my respect, after what Vitali did to Peter, I'm surprised anyone would want to get into the ring with him now, especially a fighter with such a shaky chin. If he does somehow beat the iron chinned giant, I have no problem in calling him the number 1 Heavyweight in the world, considering how bad Wlad looked against his last 3, not so great oppenents.

neither, he should get in line and be forced to fight a top 10 heavy before being handed a title shot.

I agree. However, I don't believe that his fight against Vitali would be for the WBC title. Last I heard, Vitali is thinking about dropping the WBC title if they don't allow him to fight Haye next. However, if it is for the WBC, all the better I guess. If he happened to win, and got the WBC title, that makes the Wlad fight even bigger. However, he clearly hasn't earned a title shot. You have got to earn it in the ring, not outside of the ring with your mouth. If he beats Vitali though... none of that matters. The problem is that even IF Haye beat Vitali AND won the WBC... Wlad vs Haye would actually be harder to make, because I am sure that the WBC would then force Haye to fight a mandatory... which I am not sure he would win. Not only that... but by that time, Wlad may have other fights lined up, or other mandatories due. This is what sucks about these orgs nowadays. They intentionally try to prevent one fighter from having all of the titles, because they want to be raking in all of the money for title defenses themselves.
