I am definitely not someone who cares about another man's pockets, so let me get that out of the way. With that being said, if this article is true, Manny Pacquiao is getting played for a fool in terms of revenue. I think his based pay should be higher than this and I am far from a *******. Anyway, that $40 million offer from Floyd (PPV split or not) is looking like a $100 million compared to this purse. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...am&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=tsandroid (SOURCE) This content is protected Stephen Dunn/Getty Images Is it me, or is there something wrong with the following Tweet posed by The Ring this morning: “According to Nevada commission— Pacquiao's base purse is $6 million, Bradley's, $5 million.” I am well aware that The Ring is a reliable source for everything boxing related, but this seems a little bit off center. Is this true? Is Manny Pacquiao’s base purse only one million dollars higher than that of Bradley’s? I assume that Pacquiao will also collect a hefty profit from the PPV buys; nonetheless, this is an extremely low and embarrassing amount to be attached to Manny’s name. I didn’t want to bring up Mayweather Jr. in this article, but it’s very hard to avoid doing that for direct comparison. Without using exact figures, Manny’s base purse is a fraction of what Floyd’s was in his fight against Miguel Cotto, and probably most opponents for that matter. What I would like to know, is simply what the catch is? Of course Arum will take a colossal chunk of Manny’s pay, still, there has to be something in the paperwork that would guarantee more money for Pacquiao. As for Bradley, this is great news. This amount shows that he is a valued asset to boxing, and that there is much hope in his future.
Honestly, I liked Schaefer's idea the best. I think it was the most reasonable. You weigh each fighter in terms of how much revenue they produce and base the split on that ratio.
Yeah I agreed when I heard hin tell Lampley that. But if this article is true, no way should Manny get 50%
It's a good idea, but it will be hard to implement. Rest assured that Schaeffer would want to include Mayweather's fight against Hoya towards his numbers, while Top Rank would want to have it excluded. One side may also want to put more emphasis on total revenue figures, while the other side would want to put more emphasis on per fight revenue figures.
Even so It's not a good look when you have Pac warriors on the net saying he deserve 50/50, that is simply too much of a gap 6x more to be exact, not only that we all know Manny isnt taking home as much PPV revenue as Floyd
BASED pay ... yeah hell get a share of the PPV but he'll get no where near $40 million, beleive that! And its none of my business what he makes, I just brought it up to make a point that his numbers dont compare to Floyd's and I see why he hired that company to check his books a year or so ago, before Top Rank pulled the plug on them.
Exactly .... at the end of the day, who cares about the money the fighters are making, we just want to see the fight, but from a business perspective, if any of us where in Floyd's position, I am pretty sure most of us would feel that Manny doesn't compare from a numbers perspective (now as far as the fight itself, I can see 50/50, but this a business first)
The fight won't happen. Personally, I think Pac plans to retire very soon. He might be willing to fight and lose for a big pay day, but he's not going to tarnish his legacy for an insulting pay day. Mayweather holding out for that much of a larger share, just won't let the fight happen. Besides, several of the fights he's going to want to claim would have sold well without Mayweather on the card. Example. 5000 Brits followed Hatton to the US to watch him fight. That's insane. He could have been in with anyone and sold massively. Example. JMM sells major in Mexico no matter who he is facing. Example. ODLH was selling massively no matter who he was facing. Its not like Floyd is drawing all those sales alone, like Mike Tyson did, for example.
IMO it's stupid for Mayweather to not give the 50/50 offer. The fight will give BOTH boxers the biggest payday of their career.
Well at the same token you can say that each of the fighters just named recieved their highest payday fighting Floyd.
He won't make much more than he did with Cotto. Honestly, at those types of numbers you would think it doesnt make a difference. Mayweather is just a money hungry egotist.
