You can say "he has earned the right to fight," but if I were in charge of all of the boxing commissions, I would ban him from fighting or at least put him through serious testing - checking his brain, EEGs, everything...

It seems very dangerous letting him fight on and if he doesn't quit soon, I imagine that he will have his license taken away.

Yes. On some site, the interviewer mentioned a quote to Holyfield from RJJ Sr. about how some old fighters need to be detoxed from boxing the way other people with dangerous addictions need to be detoxed and I thought that was a great way of looking at it. It looks like Holyfield is not quitting until he realizes it truly is impossible. It would actually be good if he fought someone like Klitschko and not Ibragimov for the title. He would get absolutely destroyed and maybe that's what it would take for him to understand.

  4. He may get banned in the United States but that won't stop him from going overseas:bart i just hope his inhumane ability to take massive amounts of punishment dosen't lead him into the Grave..:-(

No, as long as he can pass the medical tests. However the medical tests should be thorough and not some b.s. "pass the physical" junk in order to get licensed.

Holyfield should retire, but I don't feel it's the commission's job to prevent him from fighting unless he's truly shown signs of brain damage. According to the testing, he hasn't.

Then boxing/MMA/football/rugby, etc... in general should be banned.

No matter who it is, it's not good for your health.

Holyfield's been in a lot of tough fights and is old, but who's to say he's at any higher risk than some other guys who've been in tough fights, and whom we don't know how hard they fought in sparring?

if you ban holyfield , then you would have to ban every journeyman boxer.
which is what holyfield has become.

    not going to happen.

Holyfield should retire, but you cant stop a man from making a living and if thats what he wants to do then so be it. Guys like Bowe, Morrison, and Mesi all seem to have more serious problems than Holyfield and they have already been allowed to fight in a couple states.

All the major title organizations could prevent him for boxing for their titles. That would put the nail in his title dreams before he puts it on his own coffin. Seriously though, maybe organizations can't do that, it was just a thought. I don't know if I mind if Holyfield fights. He is his own man, and as long as he can except the responsibilities of which are sure to come from fighting too long then we should be ok with it too.

Well on one yhand I would say yes, ban this dude.

On the other hand... he's a grown *ss man, 45 years old. How would you feel if they stop you from something that you like, and the only thing that you can? If he dies then it's his own fault, but it's his life.

  14. YES i agree -you can't deny a 45yr old a license if your gonna license a guy with brain damage, Bowe-Mesi, or Morrison who is HIV POSITIVE, it's criminal in my mind to grant a guy like Morrison a license to fight knowing he has a deadly disease:-(
