As much as it pains me to say it, I suppose Commander Vander should be allowed to box himself stupid just as long as he continues to get cleared.

As much as I think he should retire, if he passes the tests and is cleared, then I think he should be allowed to fight.

I won't hold him to a higher standard just because he used to be really good and now isn't.

I think they should pull his license.

    Theres two versions to this.

    One is,
But if they don't then itll only be his own stupid fault. I'm somewhat getting sick of everyone feeling bad for Holyfield taking a beating, when he doesnt care in the least bit himself, why should everyone else.

    The second is,
Holyfield has recieved a lot of punishment over the years and it has accumulated significantly. Signs of possible brain damage maybe also showing themselves in his own inability to realise his situation, as it appears he has become almost dellusional.

But Holyfield doesnt seem to be a complete vegetable yet, and I think is still capable of making his own decisions, unless he proves otherwise. If he wants to box and continue getting beaten up, why should I care if he doesnt? It's his body/mind.

I think Holyfield would do alright, if he stuck to club fighters (kind of like what Larry Holmes did during his comeback), but the man insists on fighting legitimate contenders. The sad thing is (for me anyway) that Holyfield used to be my favorite boxer, but ever since the Ruiz 'trilogy' I have little respect left for him.

If they would let Rocky back in at his 50s to fight Mason Dixon what makes you think they will stop Holyfield?

Interesting that three people voted to end his career, yet no one has posted their rationale.

I just hope he doesn't get killed in the ring, or become mentally handicapped.

    Someone make him stop.

  9. Holy has been taking punches for a very long time as a pro since 1984:patschhe's eventually going to wind up crippled or with Alzieheimers, he's making his own bed let him lie in it, he's got 11 kids to take care of him in a few years, it's his decision to keep torturing himself so be it:-(..
BTW i have a feeling he's gonna take a bad beating tomorrow night:verysad

    Agreed on all points.

I thought Holy should have retired after the second Moorer bout. After the Ruiz fights I made a point to avoid all future Holy fights, so I haven't seen one since.

    A delusional goal, nonetheless.

And Evander has already experienced a variety of health, personal and financial problems throughout his career. Wouldn't exactly call that a great life.

Anyway, my point is he has to step down, before it's too late for him.

  15. Damn it's really hars to believe a guy that had Heart problems way back in 1994, is still fighting today 15 long years later:huh..
And a guy that has made as much money as Holy has AND STILL have financial difficulty:nut today jeez ...??
