Should Hopkins have stepped up to 175 in 2002?

    Can't speak to what did or didn't happen in negotiations, but even after the Trinidad win, Hopkins did not carry the name and weight in the sport that Jones did, and he clearly lost in their only fight. 60/40 was a fair offer IMO, and Roy probably would have Ud'd him again for his trouble.

    He was in a tough spot. And then first Taylor fight definitely showed that he was hurting his body greatly at that point to make 160.

    He wanted to make the most defenses he could targeting the #1 ATG MW.
    Hopkins have his vision to become legendary boxer.

    Pudwill was a late replacement for Thomas Tate.

    Hopkins was fighting Daniels and then later Hakkar during that period.

    I think it would have been a great fight if Hopkins stepped up to 168 to fight Calzaghe in 2002/03.
