The shop near me has a half price sale on all leather punchbags. There's a 4ft full leather bag in there that weighs 28kg, it's normally £135 but it's up for £67.50. Not a good brand, 'box2win', or something, but it's better than my knackered bag. It's got chains instead of shitty nylon straps like my current bag as well. Thoughts? I'm thinking about getting it. Even if it ony lasts a year hung up outside it's only £70.
Small light bags that move around are a lot more beneficial because it mimics opponents a lot more. I mean, what opponent just stands there and lets you pound away without moving like a 35kg plus bag? With a mobile heavy bag, you have to adjust your steps, distance and timing before letting go. Much more difficult but beneficial.
I think I need to weigh my current bag, I don't want anything lighter than that. I punch like a girl and that thing still swings about quite a bit.
Here's the bag, I'm looking at the middle-sized one. http://www.box2win.com/product_info.php?cPath=7&products_id=12
Snap your punches if you use it with footwork headmovement and defense the smaller heavybags are more beneficial than heavier bags. I try to focus on technique first then speed and finally endurance. Gained some pretty decent footwork w the 65 lbs bag. I believe the heavier bags (especially when working out without a coach) promotes bad technique as boxers try to gain ko power..where as the baby bag teaches you the finesse of boxing and punch placement. Speed and technique speed and technique
Well, Leather is certainly better than canvas and a 28kg bag should be sturdy enough (for MWs and below). Go for it.
